Arsenal have been shooting blanks all game. ti's probably going to be one of those nights where they have about 25 shots and no goals...that always seems to happen when Rosicky plays.

just watched the milan game on replay. avoided tv and internet for the better part of the day so it was live to me. real bossed the game until they got their goal then after that milan had the better of the play for the rest of the first half and a decent amount of the second. ambro was beasting kaka all over the pitch. ronnie was looking nice, getting stuck in, nice passes and flicks, dispatched his penal superbly. just needs to get that confidence to run at players back just a little more. but its coming. real dominated in shots but i would say 3 out of their 20 something shots were any threats. milan played great organized defense. nesta is back to being a top center back in the world

taking 4 points off real is fine with me.

(should have been 6, that disallowed goal was absolutely a shit call) overall the ref did a good job though, was really letting them play, didnt call much many of the dives.

Bollocks, 1-1.
I wasn't tough talking, just stating the facts.

To be honest I'm starting to get seriously disilliusioned with football at the moment. People are becoming so fickle and full of seriously boring, unoriginal, repetitive opinions. I blame the internet for this. Every tiny incident is also totally overanalysed and referees are given too much stick. Managers, for example Alex Ferguson, will deflect criticism from his team after a loss by blaming the referee for not giving a decision one way or the other and then the 24 hour press will report this over and over and over until the fact that the team didn't play well is totally overlooked and the referee is called an amateur. It makes me depressed.

its ok son just let it out.

i will say that most managers will never publicly have a go at their players i think its part of the managers code.
to be honest, i dont think a draw is a total disaster for you - you still could get 10 points, its just now lyon have qualified they might not give it 100 percent against fiorentina.
you can call for rafas head all you like he isnt going anywhere, its gonna cost around 10 million to terminate his and his staffs contracts then you have to spend to get somebody decent or risk having sammy lee in charge. never going to happen

Chelsea should be going wide at every opportunity. for a good part of the first half Kalou and Malouda were carving up the left. unfortunately, Kalou has the footballing IQ of Eboue, and Malouda looks a bit low on confidence so they didn't really take advantage. I get the feeling Ashley Cole could've had a significant impact tonight.

lucio is good, but hes a piece of shit. really dont like him. doesn't help he plays for inter.

zanetti on the other hand is the one the classiest best footballers i have ever had the pleasure of watching. i cant believe he didnt get picked to go the the last world cup. and 4 years later he is arguably playing even better than he was then (which was still at a very high level). he really can play anywhere you need him. has an engine that does not quit. a superb touch on the ball, can really hold someone off and accelerate for pace.

inter are a disgrace though. 1 italian on the pitch today out of the first 11 and subs, and hes a natural born ghanian who was adopted by italian parents.

milan started 8 italians and 3 brazlians sunday. the perfect footballing mix. brazilian skill/flair, italian defense/tactics.

i tried to put it nicely in my above post because i didn't want an english shit storm to rain down upon me..

i think the football played in the epl is an inferior brand. i dont care for kickball type of football. entertaining it is. and i watch it, because it is on. and there are very talented players in the league dont get me wrong. but if i still had goltv i would prefer to watch spanish or german games when shown at the same time as epl games.

arsenal is really the only team that plays a brand i find particularly attractive in the epl.

my disdain of man u comes from several places. one, before two years ago you hadn't won anything in 10 years in europe (and that was a very fortuitous win indeed) and much longer before that. european trophies are what matters in my eyes. the other is how so many fan boy americans claim to be man u fans (or other english teams to be honest) when its really the only teams they know of. but that comes from the epl being pushed in the united states for marketing reasons and the fact the epl games are more attractive to the simpleton fans out there who do not understand the tactics and skills of the game.

clearly you all will disagree with that, doesn't bother me its peoples opinions, but does that answer your question?

camo
02-24-2010, 09:33 PM
Yeah but preferring other leagues is different to hating them. I personally think the spanish league is too slow and the german league is too inconsistent.

Arsenal? Brand? So you like fluctuating form and inconsistent players? Or are we talking the other few hundred or so seasons they have played?

But hating us for not winning much in Europe? What is that all about lol? You do realise by default that you have to hate far more teams than just United for that daft reason.

I get you with the fan thing though, as a Mancunian it is a bit of a pain to get stick for all of our fans not born in or around the city but hey it would be the same if it was another team who had done so well. We can't have it all good.

So basically you're saying that the Premier League is big over there because the tactics and playing style of our teams is inane enough to appeal to the american simpletons? I don't know what is more stupid? Your comments or the fact that you seem to think that you are not one of these simpletons.

back to the CL.

i dont know why ancelloti did not put on joe cole later in the game for malouda and let him try to attack the flanks of inter. they are a rock through the middle of the back and midfield yet they kept trying to go up the middle. i think he would have been especially effective on maicons side if they found him on a counter attack when maicon was up out of position.

italian football is generally boring to me, but its alright.

Spanish football is great, but for me it's no more entertaining to watch than the EPL. I think alot of people (not necessarily anyone here) jump on the Spanish football thing because it makes them sound like more of a 'real' football fan if they call it the best in the world.

remove rooney (man u's whole team) and vidic and add pato and nesta...4-0 would not be the score line.

at 1-0 going into the second and needing goals taking off a defender moving midfielders in the back that dont know positioning and what not as well...well 4-0 is about right.

without pato on the right side, there was nothing keeping the man u defense honest. they could just overload on ronnie every time he got the ball. with pato in there, they cant overload and leave him too open or he can burn a team with his pace so it leaves ronnie with more space for killer balls.

then in the back with bonera instead of nesta, just is what it is. a sub par defender in for one of the best in the world.

i was suprised antonini wasnt on. im not sure if he was hurt because he had been playing very well this year. sticking in javenkolvski whos played sparingly at best, because of injury and fitness, was not a good move imo, but he wasnt bad or anything. antonini would have just been a better option imo.

real madrid is out, thats pretty funny. 200 something million dollars and they cant even get out of the round of 16. at least we have some excuse, we spent 15 million i think on transferes this summer.

friorentina got hosed bad by bayern. they should have moved on. they beat liverpool, lyon, and bayern in this edition and still didn't move on, shame.

i think i must sadly put my eggs in inters basket. hopefully their ugly style of play can bring the cl trophy back to the boot.

Evra, Nani, Valencia, Park Ji Sung, Rooney tore through the elderly the entire game. Park was in Pirlo's face constantly and gave Milan no chance to bore Man Utd and the millions watching to death. your team is just not athletic enough, not good enough. it's really that simple.

You are right, Maccabi Haifa would win the European Cup if they had Rooney, Vidic, Pato, Ronaldinho, Ribery, Lucio, Cech, Drogba, Nesta, Ronaldo, Essien, Fabregas, Iniesta and a few others. It's not fair comparing two teams out there on the pitch when there are so many hypothetical teams that could instead be deployed.

are you delusional?

remove 2 of man ures best players and add 2 of milans best players. its a different game, one that does not resemble a 4-0 scoreline. what are you even trying to refute here?

Remove Park and replace him with Jairzinho, swap Vidic with Costacurta and bring in a robot with the head of Kevin Keegan and 4-0 would not be the score-line.

or, to quote my Dad, if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle.

"To analyze the match now would be out of place. There are many reasons as to why we lost like this, in particular a Manchester United side in excellent form," the tactician told Sky.

"We needed everyone's help to overcome the deficit, but we did not access to all our best players. We imagined the match would be played out in another manner, but the injuries helped shape the result."

"When you have these types of problems, it is impossible to beat a team like Manchester. The team did some extraordinary things to obtain this result."

-AC Milan coach Leonardo

firstly cyp, can you change your name to checkyerprez, i like that much better.

we didnt have our first picks on the pitch, carrick was suspended for a start. its all irrelevant, you have to have a good squad to win stuff and having your best players doesnt necessarily gurantee winning games. real madrid anyone?
I think we would have beaten you with pato and nesta, it was about who wanted it more. leonardo is obviously inexperienced as a manager and it showed last night. some milan players didnt look motivated at all, the early goal knocked the wind out of your sails but great teams still try and recover and you didnt do that and we didnt allow you to.
he should have played beckham from the start, at least he was up for it, got stuck in, made some great passes and had that shot that would have been one of the goals of the season. I nearly cried when he picked up the green and gold scarf, what a moment.

I never think any game'll be easy - I'm about as pessimistic a United supporter as you're likely to find. Bayern will be tough, and Bordeaux picked up more points in the group stage than anybody else. I just think it will be easier than playing Barca, Inter or Arsenal to get to the final.

jesus effing christ this kinda just blew my mind. Bayern Munich coach Louis Van Gaal just about summed it up...

"He is their most important player and if you look at the statistics, then you see that Rooney has scored 31 goals. After Rooney, their second top-scorer is the opposition with own goals.

Van Gaal actually got his figures wrong. Rooney has scored 34 goals, while the club's third top-scorer is own goals, 10 of them, just behind Dimitar Berbatov with 12. But, the point remains.

As Arsenal are constantly being told, all the possession and tippy-tappy football in the world counts for nothing if you don't kill off the game.

It's good to be nervous about big games like this.

Bayern are full of quality players but I think back to the '99 season and how we turned it around on Juventus and then Bayern in the final.

Last night when Arsenal were 1-0 up they could have followed it up right after if Walcott had got that pass instead of Bendtner, then payed the price shortly after with Messi's first. That was the turning point of the game.It could have been all so diffrent if they had gone 2-0 up but it wasn't to be and Messi is just unstoppable right now but it was a shame Arsenal didn't have half their first team out there.Imagine what difference Arshavin,Fabregas,Gallas,Van Persie,Song etc would have made.

My only gripe was with Carrick for Bayern's second. Standing there while 65,000 reds shout 'man on' and he's still fucking clueless to the Bayern players approaching from behind. Bayern get the ball and force a corner and it's goodbye Europe.

To be honest I am fed up with him - he has been with us for about 5 years now, and he still hasn't got this out of his game. He is a liability. I cannot wait til Hargreaves returns, because I tell you now, Carrick will be dropped to back-up. He just isn't United quality.

He gave away the ball during a good spell of possession which resulted in the corner that lead to Robben's goal.

He allowed Olic to sneak in for Bayern's first.

He planted a ball back into our own box when we'd just cleared it which led to a hasty clearance from Van der Sar whilst surrounded by Bayern players.

He is the dopiest cunt ever to pull on our shirt. He's constantly unaware of what's going on around him and he takes far, far too long on the ball. I've just been looking at the 606 again and there are so many threads being made about him - he's really pissed a lot of United fans off tonight.

Some gems of quotes though:

I would rather play Carlton Palmer...Injured....and Blindfolded, whilst having amnesia than play Carrick in a United midfield ever again. I have disliked him from day one, and thank god now people are now starting to come around to my way of thinking.

i dont understand why he wont give berba and wayne a shot together. maybe it doesnt workout player wise with wingers like nani and valencia that need the outside space and then not having enough cover in the middle of the park if you play all four.

but i think berba and wayne could be deadly, way more deadly than keane and berba were. and they scored a TON of goals together. wayne has a lot of the same characteristics as keane, only hes a lot better. i dont see why it couldn't work with those two. might decrease waynes goal total a bit, but it would defiantly increase berbas, and in my opinion the squads, overall goal output.

i had been saying to my friends if anyone was going to stop barca it would be inter. their defense and midfield is a rock. every player there is a beast in their prime age. and then they have 3 very dangerous forwards/attacking players that can score goals on the counter. its the recipie for beating barca.

and how can messi be the best player in the world when he can disappear like that in such a big game? i mean i do agree he is, but he just does this from time to time.

Mourinho is writing his name into history.

Now, if he were to beat Barca next year with Real, that'd be interesting...

this is true.

however mourinhos tactics and real madrid supporters of free flowing football is going to clash. he will definatly change up that squad. he builds his teams on air tight defense, something real madrid is known not to care about.

i see your point but the longer barca dominate that league the fans will have to concede to winning some games unattractively. having said that i still think mourhino uses creative players well and when on song its good to watch. Milito and schneider were good to watch last night. I think the fans will love him. Every club, would want him as their next manager if they could afford him.
