Hey!
I got one recently too!
It came with:
Fable
The Great Escape
Grand Theft Auto
3 different Tom Clancy games
Battleground 2
Streets of L.A
The only one I’ve spent more than an hour with is The Great Escape…turns out I suck at most of these games and they don’t hold my attention…
I’m looking for good race/car/rally games or something Age of Mythology like…or maybe like smart/trivia games...
???

Do you think if I had any friends I'd be getting an xbox? Girls I know don't play video games. Anyway, not important.
What is important is that I only have one working controller. The second one is missing something that allows the cord to plug into the xbox. I went to a game store and was told you can't buy just that little piece, I'd have to get a whole new controller.
Freebasser those games sound too hard.

The only xbox game I've played seriously was GTA. It's way fun but it's heavy on the sex and violence. If you can take it for what it is it can be really fun but you do have to sort of put aside your values and learn to enjoy being the bad guy.

The other ones that can be really fun are the storyline/adventure games. Resident Evils, Halos etc. Are the Final Fantasies Xbox games?

I got Fable last night, I haven't touched it yet. I don't think I would like driving games.
It's nice to have a collection with variety.

I've seen GTA being played and I'm not sure if I could take it.
I have Destroy All Humans, which is fun and silly.

splinter cell is pretty cool, yeah. it's a stealth game, where you're an NSA spy/commando/assassin type guy who gets sent in to do spy/commando/assassin type stuff without being spotted by the enemy. it's very heavy on stealth, there's a lot of moving slowly and hiding in shadows, waiting for enemies to move to convenient locations so you can sneak by them/kill them without being noticed. it's a tom clancy game so the plot is tom clancy stuff. the voice actor for the main character, michael ironsides, is a joy to listen to, he's very good.
it's a fun game if moving slowly, hiding in shadows, and waiting for people to move are things that you consider to be fun. you can probably find some youtube clips to see what the gameplay is like. i think there are 4 games in the series now, but only the first two (splinter cell and splinter cell: pandora tomorrow) were made for the original xbox; the second two were made for the 360, but received xbox versions as well. i know that the ps2 versions of those games were terrible, i don't know if the xbox ones were as well (if so, it's a shame, because the third one is probably the best in the series)
edit: i was wrong, the third game (chaos theory) wasn't released on the 360 after all, and it looks like the xbox version is good

I have it...I'm still getting over how these games make me dizzy and trying to figure out all the control options...i didn't even make past the training session...:o...I think once you've mastered that aspect it might be interesting,if that's your thing...

I think shipping wuz 3 bucks or so...my contoller gyrates when you shoot and crash...woot!...woot!...Blockbuster up here has all the old x-box games for sale at about $5...they're not displayed in store, you just call the store and ask them what they have left in the catalogue...

the game can also be quite frustrating at times, because you'll have moments of "what??? how did that guy see me, i was totally out of his line of sight" or "why did you suddenly turn around and spot me" or "what do you mean they found the body?" and that kind of thing. there's a certain element of trial and error at times.
it's almost like a puzzle game, except the solution is beating people

I use my original Xbox as a doorstop for my front door when I need to keep it open while bringing in the groceries. I use to do the bump it open with your butt thing but a neighbor saw me doing that once and she was kinda cute and I didn't think it was a very manly thing to do so now I walk in with my shoulders back as well as showing her that I don't play childish video games anymore i.e. doorstop/xbox. I keep my Xbox 360 in my bedroom and I'm pretty sure she will never see it.

you should get psychonauts. really fun platform/adventure game where you play a kid in a "psychonauts" summer camp training you to delve into people's minds.
oh yeah i forgot about psychonauts, that game rules. it's a very fun platformer with a very unique style. the gimmick of the game is that you have an item which you can throw onto the back of peoples' heads (i think it's a door or a window), and then you can dive into their mind and you play a level based on that person's psychological condition, which leads to lots of really clever shit. i think you'd love it, play that

Knights of the Old Republic will own you for about 50 hours each game if you let it suck you in.
Also, a fun little game no one has mentioned, but is rather violent: The Warriors. Holy shit was that a trip.

really? The Warriors I mean if your into the cult classic is would be dandy but as a game it was depressing.

I liked it, but we all have our fav's. I believe you mentioned KOTOR and the Halo series. Both great, and I played the shit out of them.
I also like the Need for Speed Underground games.
Lego Star Wars
Tony Hawk (any will do, but 4 and THUG2 were great)
Fable
Doom 3
Amped 2
and so many more.

That actually does sound really awesome. I'm so psyched to play it!
My brother gave me three old games last night; X-Men legends, Medal of Honor Rising Son, and LOTR The Return of the King. I haven't played them yet.
I did start Fable and it was slow going. I had trouble with the archery. The graphics were a laugh. What's with Fable? I thought you could save like 10 different characters at a time but it seems you can only make one.
XBOBX LIVE:
Do people usually assume that if you want to play xbox, you're going to go live? It seems like the employees at the game stores just assume I'm going to be playing online. I know some of the games mentioned here are really popular to be played ONLINE, like Halo. Is it still fun to play otherwise?
yes! Psychonauts is awesome! in fact i bought a 360 for the sole purpose of playing Tim Schafer's next great game Brutal Legend. I was that impressed with Psychonauts. it also encouraged me to play some Secret of Monkey Island on the pc, and some Grim Fandango, also a pc game. old school pc though!
enjoy your new system!
Jade Empire was a fun game. i really liked playing around with the Good and Evil aspects but i did find the combat to be a bit repetitive even with all the fighting styles you can upgrade and switch around with.
