Good listen on this commentary. I guess its safe to say the boys can remember from around 1996 on. The sound quality is way better and they can remember where, why and how a lot more then the previous commentarys. Anyone else have the chance to listen to this? Thoughts?

Yeah. I enjoyed it. I loved how they zoned out to the music during Shame in Your Game.

I can't throw stones. I don't remember specifics about anything before 1996 either.

If anything I thought this was the least informative commentary so far! They don't really go into many details and stories behind the songs and spent most of the time being silly. They couldn't remember most of the album!

I'm not complaining though. It's still very amusing.

It was great because they name dropped a lot of synths and whatnot and I'm into that sorta shit...definite A+

However...one thing that kinda bugs me, is that when referring to Intergalactic, Mike calls the vocoder a voCORDER. I think I read that in the liner notes of the anthology as well. I mean, I guess he can call it whatever the hell he wants to (he's Mike D), but I'm just sayin.....

I love when the album's about 4/5ths through and they're like "...haven't heard a hip-hop track in awhile." Hahaha.
Learned something from it: during 'Dedication', they mention Newcastle as a reference to 'where Venom comes from.' Some Googling led me to the "you're wild, man..wild!" sample here: http://blogfiles.wfmu.org/HT/Venom_-_Live_at_City_Gardens.mp3

nice to hear it, but didn't learn much....i wonder if they did all 3 consecutively...that could explain the lack of detail....

Nah they say the date on the CYH one and it was after the Paul's Boutique on was released. Plus they repeat several stories (meeting Bob Dylan, Biz Markie getting candy).

the best part of the commentary was hearing them talk about HSC 2.

Grasshopper Unit story was interesting...

The best part in the commentary was when Mike D was doing the dedication and they all kept making fun of him. Hilarious! And the beginning when Mike D was like "Should we do the clap?" and MCA is like "We already did it" and Mike D was like "Oh get the fuck outta here!" and then started cussing, LMAO!! Plus when they are talking about that some of their songs should be in massage parlors, lol.

Aww, cool! Glad to help you out - I've been pushing your comps on every Beastie friend I have.
The Paul's Boutique one is indispensable. And the others are no slouches either.
Thanks again for hooking us up.
If anyone here has missed these, they're absolute musts for any Beastieologist: http://miscreant-productions.blogspot.com/2009/01/definitive-beastie-boys-sample-source.html

I gotta give this one a listen tonight. I haven't bothered to listen to any of the commentaries yet. I should though. That shit is always entertaining.
