Alot of my old acquaintances from High School that I haven't heard a peep from in nearly 20 years I've found on FB and much to my dismay some of them that want to become my "Friends" clutter up my page with their religious bullshit and I have to cut them off.
And don't get me wrong I'm not some Christ hater but I do hate the idea of my wall being shitted up with silly notions of "I took a Poll on Bringing Prayer back to teh Skoolz Letz Bring it Back" Don't waste my time with that silly shit. I have serious issues to discuss like the latest episode of Supernatural or if Jennifers curtains match the drapes
And oddly enough I had such a great time in the 90's that the whole decade is a complete blur. I have trouble remembering most of those good ppl's 1st names much less last names. That was a decade so great I forgot. Wished I could find those ppl

a half sister i had no clue existed found me through facebook. that was a little weird. i met her, that was weirder. havent really talked to her since. not because i dont want to, more because i dont know what to say. i havent had a relationship with her for 25 years, and i dont get close to people easily. especially with woman. plus i hate bullshitting and small talk, so where does that really leave me ya know?

No way! You found a sister you didn't know you even had. WoW! I suppose that would be a little strange meeting bloodline that u hadn't known about before. But in a Good Way
But I know what you mean. I really hate meeting ppl too. Almost as much as idle chit chat/forced conversations where you go through the motions. But I'd imagine meeting a sister would be a....I can't even imagine I'm an only child. So that whole idea makes my head spin

I like having old school friends on my FB so I can boast about how great I am all the time in my status updates. I've certainly changed a lot in the 8 or so years since I saw many of them and like to show off.

Really don't you think that a little shallow?
I'm almost convinced that I either don't like FB or what 9/10 of my "friends" have become. I swear if it wasn't for Mafia Wars I would blow out of that joint. I feel as stiff and regimented on that damn site as I felt when I was a kid in Sunday School.
Pictures of their kids and stuff that I suppose most ppl at my age would find fascinating or like I said earlier their religious convictions. Their lives seem pretty uneventful to me. Whereas my friend from England that I met here in BKK years back is entertaining. He has comments about someone he knows that was robbed by a lady boy here in Thailand. That's a fun read. Not poetry. Not the endless "Why You'd be Banned from Walmart" yuk yuk. I swear to God I want to get real. I got drunk last weekend and sang karaoke to Sex Bomb Baby- That's Newsworthy. And I don't like the short snips. "I'm Happy" Really Do tell Expand on that thought. Not just *LIKE or Other Ppls Beat Up Quotes that are supposed to be inspiring and yet that gets *LIKE.....No. No. No. Put a Quote up and give the credit to someone else to shake things up like "Life is what happens when your making other plans: Jesus of Nazareth"
I feel like I'm walking on eggshells bc I'm trying to build "Friends" up solely so I can build my Mafia Family up. I want to 86 9 out of 10 of those yoyo's or better yet just get real and live on it so they'll cut me out of their little circle.

Shallow? Absolutely, such things bring me great pleasure in life. I do go deeper than that, but I can amuse myself with all sorts.

I feel like pretty much anyone from high school I wanted to keep in touch with I have. I hate the tools that you never talked to in high school hitting you up to be friends on facebook. It's like dude, we weren't even real friends, why do I give half a shit what you have to say now? The real sad fruits are the people you don't even know that hit you up to be a friend. What!?! I don't get it. Yeah, I wanna listen to all this bullshit that a complete fucking stanger has to say about their fucking cats. Sociopaths.

I got $10 that says you were the nerdy kid in HS who never got laid and nobody ever invited to any of the parties.
Like everyone's dying to be friends with you.

I got $10 that says your high school career saw the pinnacle of your attractiveness and popularity, which is why you theorize about other people's high school experiences as if it fucking matters anymore.

I don't mind it so much. I've had a fair number of people contact me whom I would never have imagined would have bothered to try to find me (I wouldn't have sought them out) but hey, whatever. Mostly it seems they want to just say hi and see what I'm up to, if I find their updates and feeds annoying then I just hide them, but that's not really happened much.

I'm not on facebook, but I still get contacted by people from high school, from clubs I was in while in HS, and from college. For some reason, the people who want to "catch up" with me are all middled aged women going through a divorce or some other major negative life-changing event. I spent YEARS cutting needy/overly dramatic people out of my life. I'll be damned if I'm taking new ones on now.

Settle down, hon.
This thread is about old friends from HS contacting you via FB.
What else would I comment on? LOL
Anyway,
Anyone who thinks they're too cool to waste their time with old acquaintances from HS probably shouldn't join FB to begin with.
And the pinnacle of my attractiveness and popularity wasn't HS.
It was college.
HS girls are much more interested in College guys than HS guys.

My friend's husband has been up to no good on facebook. He's never been very bright. His wife doesn't have an account but her friends do.
Before facebook, there were high school reunions. I know at least 5 people who hooked up with an old crush at the 20th reunion.

I thought it was interesting...
Most retrosexual experiences seem to spring from an intense, almost uncontrollable mixture of nostalgia and interest. "You get a thrill out of finding an old girlfriend just to see if she still likes you," says W. Keith Campbell, a University of Georgia psychology professor and co-author of The Narcissism Epidemic. "You're curious to see what she looks like, and it's easy to fantasize about alternative courses your life might have taken." It's the same feeling that compels people to attend high school reunions. In a way, these meet-ups are the same thing, especially for people like Los Angeles film developer Jillian Stein, 30, who traveled to her hometown of Tampa, Fla., and had three Facebook- and MySpace-inspired reunions within 72 hours.
