I remember hearing that such a remix existed back when BS was touring. They were handing out cassettes of this track and possibly others to selects lucky fans. Can anyone verify this is true and maybe (pretty please) throw out an mp3?

It is all true.

I totally had that cassette as well. But, alas it is lost...

I wish I had that remix as well.

Can anyone share?

Hopefully, one day someone will be generous and share it with silence7. Every so often, he gets rare gems from anonymous contributors.

Micodin, what other songs were included on these cassettes that were handed out?

Micodin

I believe it was just a few songs from people that were on Grand Royal like Luscious Jackson and whatnot.

The only B-Boys song was that BS2000 remix. Damn it was nice. I wish I still had that cassette.

They should have included that remix on the anthology DVD along with the dozens of other remixes that were on there.

I wonder how many promo cassettes similar to this there are floating around. With exclusive tracks.

It's always great to locate a new beastie track and to me this qualifies as one, a b-side if you will.

A lossless copy of this Body Movin remix would be fantastic.....hint hint:D

I've got that tape somewhere. If I remember right I either bought it from grand royal or it came free with my order. I don't think it's as rare as y'all are going on about though.

rave-o-lution mix is part of FLAVOR FOR YOUR EAR Part 13: Sounds So Soothin'

I have seen it on ebay a few times (relatively cheap) but I don't collect cassettes. I would have bought it, but I figured I would eventually find it in a digital (higher quality) format.

I have a few of them. At the Seattle show they gave me a stack on the way out the door. I kept a few, and sold a few. I remember seeing them on evil-bay for less then $5 at one point.

I'd be happy to pay a few bucks for one, name your price if that's an option.

Damn I don't know how I didn't realize that it's part of ffye, I just listened to the track and it bumps (dig the bass). Sucks my ffye copy is at 128 k, I'd love to hear a quality copy that I can blast in my truck. While on the topic of ffye, does anyone have the volume titled "krush groovin", that volume has evaded me forever and has some exclusive tracks I never heard......anyone?

I can upload it, but bitrate is 128 :(

Those Flavor for Your Ear deals are just bootlegs. The grand royal tape is the only place I've seen that cut officially released. A rip directly from the tape is going to be about as good as you can get it.

Back to the original topic...this rave-o-lution is not the BS2000 remix, correct?

I went to two of the BS2000 shows and didn't see any cassettes being passed out. Would have been nice though...

I'm under the impression that they are the same.

Seems too big a coincidence that BS remixed Body Movin and passed it out at shows at around the time the "Rave O Lution" mix was available exclusively on a GR mix tape (only passed out at shows).

Though I could be wrong.

...I still want a copy, who's got it for sale?

There is no Body Movin' "BS2000 Mix". I think people just mislabeled it the BS2000 mix because Adrock did it.

The first BS2000 album (1997) was made on an SP1200 sampler. Shortly after that Adrock got the Rave-O-Lution 309 http://www.vintagesynth.com/misc/rave309.php

They mention it in a 1998 Rolling Stone article--"Between Beasties records, Horovitz can be heard on albums from side projects like DFL, a hardcore band, and BS 2000, an experimental beat-collage album that Horovitz put together using his beloved SP-1200 sampler. ("I've got three of them now. The first one I bought is an ex-Ice-T sampler. He was selling it used.") Mike D and Adam Yauch want to release a remix EP of the hip-hop songs from Hello Nasty, which Horovitz put together using his new drum machine, the Rave-O-Lution 309, although Horovitz doesn't think it sounds that good. ("Actually, a couple of the songs sound pretty good.")"

The Body Moving remix was made with that sampler, which is why its called the "Rave-O-Lution" mix. I guess it was one of the ones that "sounded pretty good."

On the other hand, there is a "Hey Ladies" BS2000 mix that came out on a bootleg 12".

They may have passed out that tape at BS2000 shows but it wasn't the only place you could get it. I either got it at a Beastie Boys concert or directly from Grand Royal mail order. Come to think of it, did BS2000 even do any shows after the first album? I know they toured on the second album but that was a total musical 180.

Thank you bionic for uploading the tape on youtube, very nice to hear the entire cassette.

Thanks Bionic! After hearing the "youtube tape" I realized that I got that tape all those years ago at a show in the Boston area.

The tape itself was pretty cool, but all of this anticipation for the rave-o-lotion mix... meh. didn't do much for me at all.

Yeah I remember this mix now... Never really cared for it. It's funny I kind of dig the beat and obviously I like the vocals, but I just don't think they go together all that well.

I got that sampler tape in the mail from GR. I'm pretty sure BS2000 didn't tour after the first album just after Simply Mortified.
