True. Canadians were flabbergasted to find out that I had to do that everyday in school or I'd get in trouble. I didn't even know what I was saying, it was just words. It's a little disturbing to think about now.

Adolfobama and his sick cronies had their hands all over this one. Forcing innocent children to sing songs about a false god and things that never happened. That type of stuff should be left to churches to do to children, not our schools.

lyrics link
(http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/24/lyrics-songs-president-obama/)
The school should just stick to the classics like Yankee Doodle Dandy and America the Beautiful, I agree with that. But I also think that these children who are in first and second grades deserve a civil and humane response to the inappropriate behavior of the teacher who had them sing this song.

It is equally inappropriate to over-react to such extremes that now FOXNews is quoting lunatic rage about these songs (read and comprehend the lyrics) from parents that actually say,

Other families arriving at Bernice Young Elementary to pick up their children said they were outraged at the songs, which also tout a fair-pay bill Obama signed in January: "He said we must be clear today/Equal work means equal pay."

"I felt this was reminiscent of 1930's Germany, and the indoctrination of children to worship their leader," said Robert Bowen, father of two children at Bernice Young Elementary.

"I thought that if this was a civics class in say high school or upper level middle school, in might be appropriate to discuss policies or politics, but as far as children in first grade, second grade -- those types of levels -- it's inappropriate to discuss how a president is changing the world after only six weeks in office."

Parents said the songs were performed in Elvira James' second grade class. James, who refused to comment to FOXNews.com, retired at the end of the previous school year on a full pension in New Jersey.

Also the timeline once again is off, this is being brought up today but it happened last school year? 6 weeks into Obama's presidency? WTF? How desparate is FOX to always try and keep Obama in some sort of comparable light to Hitler? Many kids were highly impressed at the time by America fulfilling it's dream as a true multi-cultural Nation. It's all pretty corny, I agree the song is sucky, but the reaction and especially this delayed reaction is entirely inappropriate, more damaging than the original song. Hitler was big into propaganda and this whole fucking cause of the Hitler/Obama comparison by the right wing is propaganda.

Burlington Township School District superintendent: Song is from Black History Month activity, and the "recording and distribution of the classroom activity was unauthorized." The school board's superintendent wrote in a letter to parents that "[t]he video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized."

I think this is a pertinent quote regarding the video.

Even though I disagree with the song, it is innocent. If they sang about Martin Luther King nobody would of tried to manipulate it to this point for fear of bringing the limelight on themselves as outright racist. (thinly veiled racism is OK though)

I actually think all of this delayed backlash is last grasp hate, racism and a overt propaganda program to continue to discredit all things associated with the current POTUS. These are some seriously fucked up people using a seriously fucked up time line exploiting innocent people to obtain the worse sort of leverage imaginable... Obama is Hitler. It's sick and twisted.

The missile defense program is a war profiteering farce, if you believe it would work you're an idiot, not to mention how much it would entice super-powers to build their arsenal tenfold and find alternatives to aerial attacks. Terrorists don't use ICBMs so it would be useless against them.

anyways, the song is dumb and kids are off key - they'd be better off with GOD HATES FAGS signs and uzis

April 17, 2006

At the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, children from the stricken Gulf Coast region serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the beleaguered Federal Emergency Management Agency.

To the tune of Hey Look Me Over, about 100 young children from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama sang:

Our country’s stood beside us
People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

After the song, Mrs. Bush posed for photos with the kids, many of whom were wearing Katrina Kids T-shirts, despite the chilly rain.

Earlier, the First Lady read Will You Be My Friend: A Bunny and Bird Story by Nancy Tafuri. According to a White House pool report, the children sat on the grass as Mrs. Bush read; she sat in a white wrought iron chair, freshly toweled by two Park Service employees.

After the reading, Mrs. Bush asked, Did you like this book? Does it tell you about what people can do to help other people, what bird did to help bunny? Be kind to him and give him shelter.

Wow.

That does seem like brainwashing.
I mean kids coming to the WH and singing songs of thanks to Bush for recieving aid from a natural disaster is much more evil than school kids singing songs to Obama to support his socialist political agenda.

no difference than valvano staring a thread with the premise of "BUSH DID IT AND SO DOES OBAMA" HOPE CHANGE FAIL (!):confused::rolleyes:

I was directly replying to a question valvano asked, Rob. and are you defending kids Praising FEMA vs. kids celebrating Black History Month?

because one actually does seem more evil in my eye, using kids from the depleted South to promote a Federal organization that was COMLPETE FAILURE in the eyes of America. let's bring in some cute kids and have them sing about Congress and FEMA and the like, that'll change public opinion.

Valvano made this thread about an incident where a video showed kids singing a song about Obama that some found "questionable".

What does the singing kids you referred to during the Bush admin. have to do with this other than to point out that "Bush did it too", right?

I'm just saying, the whole "Bush did it too" debating technique is pointless when you think about it.
All you're saying is that Obama is no worse than Bush.
Or to put it more bluntly,...All this shady crap that you're exposing Obama and the Democrats for, well the Republicans did it too.
Even I had higher hopes for Obama than that.

I mean you don't think I'm going to defend Bush from the shenanigans his admin. were up to just because I don't like Obama, do you?

Also, I agree...

Yep. It's scary how easily people get whipped up by stories on Fox that are so obviously designed to manipulate them. When someone in the media tries to get me whipped up, I have a natural inclination for skepticism, but so many people swallow it whole. No one asks Glenn Beck why he's dragging up a small story from 7 months ago that no one cared about at the time. No one cares that it has nothing whatsoever to do with the president. Scary.

By the way, the Daily Show did an amusing bit on this a couple of nights ago.

The slanted right wing idiocy dumped upon the majority of Americans is just that. To not read the whole thread then lambaste in some sort of holier than thou context is just fucking stupid. And I have no problem calling out stupidity.

Let's get this straight. There were permission slips that went home with each student with the lyrics written on them to make sure it was okay that they sung it at school. Every parent signed the slip and returned it. Every single parent said it was okay before, during, and after the song, and no parent has complained about any of the students singing this song (duh, they knew about it beforehand). It's a non-issue and nobody else's business if the parents agreed to it.

And what about my Brother
He's hurt and he can't get covered
My tummy's turning and I'm feeling kinda worried
Capricious coverage is killing me
That's when a Doctor said,
"You have to go"
Bipartisan support was tried, so we wouldn't be denied
But Joe Wilson yelled "You Lie!"

Creepiest. thing. ever.
BTW, these kids are from the Ron Clark Academy.
Ron Clark is this guru in the teaching world. He was named Oprah's first "Phenomal Man".
So he's clearly a card carrying member of the Oprah-Obama clique.
