Pitchfork reviews always seem to annoy me somehow.
I can sort of see their point of view about Hello Nasty, but for me the good way outweighs the bad with that album.

They complain that it's overstuffed but I think that's the charm of the album, the songs like "Song for the Man" and "I Don't Know" are what make it unique.

That review sucked.. For the Hip Hop tracks on that CD were better than ANYTHING that was out at that time. Screw that review,.

fuck this guy. nice, bash something that hard and it still gets a 7? oh yeah, by the way, when you review a remastered album, it helps to actually mention how the remastering sounds. what a penis. why do pitchfork reviews always sound so pompous and bitter? this guys over-usage of terminology and sprite vocabulary completely undermines his point too. he's just so proud of himself for hating on this record.

and this aint no fanboy talking either.

Dead freakin' ON review......

Have you listened to the second disk; there are but a few complete utter failures in their entire catalog and they are all from this era. And the commentary, come on, I swear that their reactions were of shock at times and the subtext was like enough said. I admit Flowin Prose and Grasshopper are amazing, a few other gems, but I think even they were like a tripped out/weirded out when they listened again together.

It's OK though, this was just the valley for me....my opinion of course.

HSC will be awesome and maybe-probably the best thing since Ill C and I can't wait.

You can't f**k with "Super Disco Breakin'", "The Move", "Just a Test", "Putting Shame in Your Game", "The Negotiation Limerick File" plus the singles.. that is more greatness than any other record that was out at the time.

It had a lot of filler but whatever, in the CD age it only takes one second to move to the next track..

The remixes and instrumentals on disc two are cool but the talking and jibberish was more filler.. but whatever, their is enough greatness in this package for the price.

I read Pitchfork for the entertainment value. Mainly cuz I've never ever come across a group of individuals more full of themselves or high on some self-bestowed sense of superiority.

All music is subjective and such but I'm fairly certain they're the only critics who actually write like assholes.

It's a pretty spot-on review. Probably unnecessarily mean, but the album was a huge shock at the time for how laid back it sounded. Still has the best opening 3 tracks, though.

just an observation: i think some of this had to do with the mixdown (aside from other reasons). compared to previous bboy records, their voices were mixed much further back in the mix. putting them a bit more inside the beats than on top, thus making it sound a little less in your face. for they're yelling in many of the songs just as much as ever, but it's balanced a bit more.
