I went to a wedding this weekend and it happened again…another couple took the chance at the reception to announce that they’re engaged, blah, blah, blah…I’ve always’s kinda found this to be a bit of scene stealing…grandiose theft…if not to be in downright poor taste…once there was even a proposal…but at least that was the grooms brother…whatta ya think?

Hmm, I'd say yes maybe it is somewhat in poor taste. Depends on the timing of it though, later on might make it more acceptable, but it's still stealing some of the moment away from the newly-weds.

I didn't even notice, I click 'new posts' so it's all the same to me. You think I'd be in Beastie General anyway? HA!

It depends on if you stop the wedding to make the announcement or if you announce it near the end of the reception when everyone is good and drunk. It wouldn't be considered rude if your girlie caught the bouquet and then you make the heavy announcement.
