id say there has been an evolution in his lyrical style/delivery, moreso than the other two

mike d's lines in lee majors, too many rappers and now pop the balloon.. d wins hard. id say its the delivery mostly, but then again his lines are edited or seem more produced than the others lines, i dunno

wheatgrass juice?

I would have to agree. Something has gotten into this man.

i do remember around the time of to the five boros, mike seemed a little out of it or uncomfortable or some shit in interviews. maybe his head wasnt all there, maybe there was a bit of self consciousness going on.. i dunno... something

there definitely seems to be a big difference between now and then. i think he really stands out on these new songs, its almost like some sort of renewed confidence or somethin? good shit dough

Mike D would eat Eminem in a battle.

maybe more mike d from 2001 would eat mike d from 2009. i dont think mike d's wife would be too happy about m&ms in the house

Nah, Mike D circa 1989 would merk Mike D Circa 2009, no doubt, but MCA circa '89 would destroy Mike D circa '89 or '09. Adrock circa '86 pretty much murders Mike D or MCA circa '86, but both Mike D and MCA circa '09 could handle Adrock circa '05 to '09. But Busy Bee and Kool Moe Dee circa '82 to '86 could lay out Mike D, MCA, or Adrock circa any year.

wait, i meant 2009 mike d would eat 2001 mike d.. like i said, he's tight on the new shit

id say adrock has been the most consistent throughout the years as a performer but as a lyricist he;s in a little rut

mike d just had a little drop off in the early 2000's but id say now he wins

I gotta give it to Yauch for most consistent. Even at his "what the ponytail, I don't eat snail" worst, he still has the best track record.

Mike D's always been the most consistent to me since the beginning. If worse came to worse and they broke up and released solo albums, I'd buy Mike's solo album before the other two. Adrock's the best onstage performer, MCA's the best at coming up with the deep lyrical shit, but for straight up MC skills, swagger, attitude, flow, it's M-I-K-E to the D in a lock. He's the Beastie that screams "HIP-HOP! HIP HOP!" to me the most.

This discussion just got real.

On the real, and for real, Yauch's flow is waaay tighter than Mike D's or Adrock's. Sometimes, especially lately, Mike sounds like he's reading from rhymes he just wrote a minute ago. And Adrock's just way to simple sounding now, but MCA is fluid and still comes with the sharp lines.

it's tough to bring it (in hiphop) when you have to stay politically correct....

Tell that to Rakim, though.

Off topic...

The only 3 concepts that I have wished they would do that they haven't done

1. Cover album
2. Album released as 7" box set (on colored vinyl) only
3. Kiss style triple album (ie Kiss or Outkast Speakerboxxx / The Love Below)

It looks like with HSC Pt 2 we MAY get the 7" boxset, but wouldn't it be cool to get a 3 x CD release with their own individual cuts?

i agree about adrock, but its also true that you could give him a nursury school rhymes book to read from and he would still rock the shit out of it live in concert. he makes lyrics come alive in performance, ive always felt that that, which is his greatest strength, has rarely been captured on albums

i feel like regardless of the rhymes he's reading, mike has actually figured out how to capture his moments of brilliance in live performance in the studio, this is why he wins to me on hsc so far

you get pretty much the same mca live or on albums. that being said i think he has kicked it up a notch since to the five boros... second place.
