10 years ago i thought this was a good song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUqcKxBhFqA)
i've americunt evolved so far
interesting bob trivia, though - this was one of the first bands i ever saw in concert. i didn't go to the concert to see them, it was a show that included them, rammstein, system of a down, and slipknot (i'm guessing that you're beginning to understand why i didn't have sex in high school), but they were there too. and i remember that during one of their songs (i don't remember which song) i got into a sort of staring contest with the bassist and after about 30 seconds or so of staring at each other, i started to smile and then he smiled back at me, and either it was a show of solidarity about being people who had never had sex in high school or he was a pedo, i'm not sure, chris matthews hadn't been invented yet
anyway, what horrible music did you like when you were an idiot?
i also liked this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U45NfWSX-Vk&feature=related (ps this is their most sophisticated piece, i downloaded their album and even my 15 year old ass wasn't dumb enough to like it)
i never knew it had a video, youtube wasn't around at that point, i depended on TRL for my music videos. can you imagine? every day i came home from school and sat my idiot butt on the couch and watched 2 minutes of advertisements for every minute of programming, and probably only fifteen seconds of which was a music video and generally it was the same ten videos every week. also i think half the videos were abridged. has TRL survived youtube? i certainly hope not
i remember back when i started posting on this board, there was a thread in which we all conspired to get a beastie boys video on TRL. shake your rump, i think. this was back in the mike yauchovitz days. it didn't work, because most of us didn't realize that MTV.com had a mechanism in place to catch people who were voting multiple times. TPK was in charge of the thing if i remember right, i don't think he was even a mod at the time
TPK get up in this bitch and reminisce with me

oh, all the limp bizkit / korn bullshit of the late 90s. I probably truly thought it was good music.
it was not.

In high school I really liked Blink 182's Enema of the State, and uh, no. I still kind of want to hear a Dude Ranch or Cheshire Cat song from time to time for nostalgia reasons, but that's about it.
I remember liking shit like Lit, Harvey Danger, and Eve 6.
Also, no. Then again it's been a while and maybe they have a good song or two. But I doubt it.

now this is when i was waaaaay young, i think they were called Johnny hates Jazz. fucking super shit. i was 11 or something-my brain was only half-formed
i just downloaded some new model army and levellers coz i was mad about them both when i was 16, did the entire one of their tours. now, it just sounds so shitty (mostly)
i am happy that i was so in love with the cure coz they still sound great-the older records i mean-three imaginary boys, faith, 17 seconds, pornography etc. but then we're not talking about the good bits

Yep, yep and yep. I actually have an album by lit and I still sometimes listen to it. Nostalgically ofcourse. Ditto Harvey Danger, but they have some added value as Flagpole Sitta is the themetune to Peep Show.
I really liked Limp Bizkit's Significant Other (really, only that album, I swear!) and Hanson's Middle Of Nowhere was the first CD I ever bought myself. I still like it tbh.
I also still like the Stereophonics' first 2 albums, they were somewhat less shite then.

It's a tough question because I never liked most of the embarrassing teen idols. I was a proud member of the Partridge Family Fan Club, but I wasn't attracted to David Cassidy -- I think it was more that I wanted to be in a band. I was also 6 years old.
For live music -- I saw Olivia Newton John on her Physical Tour. I was deeply embarrassed at the time though. I went with my best friend and she had really bad taste in music. BTW, that's the concert where I learned that really talented musicians have to eat shit and play a lot of horrible music. I really felt for guys in her band.
I sucked up a lot of shitty corporate rock in 1980-81. By 1982, I had completely disavowed it and would have denied ever liking it. But my vinyl collection reveals the truth. :p

i can't decide what's the worst part...
1. the music
2. their outfits/makeup
3. their body movements
4. the keyboard player and his flaming keyboard
5. that they are dead serious

i think everyone in their mid 20's went through a limp bizkit and/or blink-182 phase at some point
limp didn't last too long for me. i latched on with their version of faith (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m0EbOSzX_g), but that was about as far as i went. probably lasted a couple months with some teen rage, but that was about it.
blink probably lasted a bit longer. i think i still have enema of the state in my cd collection, although it hasn't seen the light of day in some time now. maybe i'll give it a spin later on today...

Yeah, I had a really unfortunate Korn/Bizkit phase. I actually went to a Korn/Staind concert (the ticket was free!) Mostly because I was hopelessly devoted to deftones and they got lumped in with that group a lot.
Never will be embarassed about deftones.
I remember liking shit like Lit, Harvey Danger, and Eve 6.
Eh whatever...i still get down when My Own Worst Enemy and Flagpole Sitta show up on a shuffle.
I totally listened to some cock rock. (n)

i lost a lot of respect fro them after seeing them live, tapes everywhere and the support band, Top, were shit but still better than them. one trick ponies, i was really into them but am not proud of it now.
candy flip - great cover version. GCSE study leave spent on hills with bottles of thunderbirds and 3 spliffs worth. good times

they can be fun because I'm transported back to that time in my life, but they aren't actually good. I was under the belief at the time that those bands, and their entire albums, were good.
Not so much.

True, it kinda set the dark tone for the rest of the show. Now they only use blips of it in between scenes. However, I had never heard of Harvey danger before peep show, so Flagpole Sitta will always be linked to the show for me. I can just Imagine the words being sung/thought by Mark.

btw, I used to be really into these guys, who arn't really considered cool here.
But it's just so nice to sing along very loudly I even bought the single...:

Ska. I used to like Reel Big Fish. But didn't everybody? Weren't we all made into fools by that catchy, happy, horn-tooting stuff? How could we resist? Those were different times.

I once bought an Eminem CD... the one with Real Slim Shady. I was 15 though. Even at the time I sold it to a friend about a couple weeks after I bought it. I also had 3 Limp Bizkit CDs and one of them still remains in my collection (the remix album). Haven't listened to it in some time though.

Other than MC Hammer, when I was around 11 or 12, and can't really think of anything overly embarassing that I used to listen to.
Granted, the "newest" artist that I can think of really getting into is probably Jay-Z.
My music taste hasn't really changed, or broadened, since High School.
I'm now 31.
