FORT COLLINS. Colo. - Authorities were trying to determine Thursday how to safely bring down a 6-year-old boy who reportedly clambered into his family's experimental balloon-powered aircraft and floated away from home, sheriff's officials said.

Kid either set free his dad's balloon free and thought 'oh shit, I'm outta here he is going to kill me' and then hid for ages. Or he fell out at 10,000ft before the cameras tracked him.

CPS might very well get a case for this

No charges/fines from the Larimer Sherriff's department?

What if a child/family were REALLY in danger and they were all focused on this hoax?

The "Aha!" moment that led authorities to realize what had happened was an interview with the family Thursday night on CNN's "Larry King Live," Sheriff Jim Alderden of Larimer County said Sunday. In the interview with Wolf Blitzer, filling in for King, the Heenes asked their son why he had not come out from hiding when they called his name.

"You guys said we did this for the show," the boy responded.

it's one of the most bizarre news stories of the year, but as it unfolded live it was captivating to see the media had no clue what they were reporting on, yet everyone was glued to the tube for 3 or 4 hours as it went down...

even as they were still investigating, it was very clear that the parents were seeking fame and fortune for themselves, and they were willing to exploit and expose their kids at any measure and any cost to get rich quick and get their 15 minutes.

they were obsessed with getting on a reality show, and if you watch the first video I posted above and can sit through that video, you see the philosophy that the parents have passed down to their kids is going to damage them in the future.

everything about the couple screams shady, attention seeking publicity whores.

i hope he sees some jail time
