curious what your most prized possessions are..
mine is either my socoolawesome brushed steel and glass desk. its not expensive, but i loved it a lot - or - this like 200 year old statue of st. michael the archangel passed down from my great great grandmammy or some shit. it used to be used in parades and shit back in the day.
i keep a box of memorabilia from events ive been to, autographs, new tee-shirts. that shits gonna be gold when we get old. oooh and my old gi-joes in the attic,.. memoriesss

Yeah, I have an album with ticket stubs to almost all of the shows I've been to since I was maybe 18. I'd be pretty bummed if something happened to that but not inconsolable. I don't think there is anything now that would completely wreck me if I lost it.
The only thing that I have really ever felt that way about were my bunnies and they passed away this Spring. They really were the most precious thing to me. No matter what happened during the day, I'd always get a smile on my face and quicken my step as I got to my front door to get in the house and give them kisses and pet their little heads. I still think about them every day and miss them. I know nobody really gets the bunny thing, that's okay. But to me they were little gifts, they each had their own unique personality, just like dogs, and they made every day I got to share with them a little bit better just by being.

- Copy of "Where The Sidewalk Ends" given to my brother and me by our parents when we were tots
- Grandma's costume jewelry
- Rare Andy Warhol photographic print given to me by my brother, framed in a handmade antique frame that I bought at an auction I attended with my mom

the mp3 player.. for me its kind of like my mp3 collection which is about 20,000 songs.. double backed up sons
the ticket album sounds sweet, id want to get them all in a giant frame for the den or music room or whatever.. that could be worth something someday, no?
that piggybank too.. sounds like antiques roadshow material

The piggy bank isn't worth anything, I see them all over the place. It's priceless to me though.

oh shit
yeah
im gonna have to include my music collection too. i have like 361 gigs of music(about 15,300 songs). most of it lossless so it's no different than cd quality but takes up loads of space. i also have some rare surround sound and hi-resolution mixes. dark side of the moon and war pigs in surround sounds is fucking amazing!

Yeah I'd have to say my hifi + vinyl collection.
I've just started cataloging it all on this iOwn app I got for my iphone for insurance purposes.
It took me an hour and a half to catalog JUST the beastie boys vinyl collection. It will take me a few weeks to catalog the rest I reckon. Lots of pricey pricey stuff.
I'd die if my hifi got pinched. (well now that I have contents insurance, not so much).
I've easily sunk $30,000 into just my 2 channel hifi.

I used to think every possession of mine was a prized possession. It must be 15 years since I left home but my parent's house is still full of my crap. I hoarded stuff like some crazy person. Albums, CDs, books, comics, magazines, cuttings from newspapers. That stuff needs to go.
If it came down to it now, prized possessions - pictures of my family. Most of them on this here PC in digital form.
A jar of nail clippings that I have amassed since I was 6, a petrified dead frog, four half eaten sprouts and a tin of Ronseal Wood stain (unopened, mint condition - pm me for offers).

Hm. Well, there are quite a few things, accumulated from our travels really. Lots of prints and other little objets d'art, because we try to buy some local art or craft whenever we go someplace. Some of them are just trinkets with only sentimental value really, and others are properly, like, insured and stuff (like the 250 yr old hand stitched silk obi, and the 19th century woodblock prints). Other than that stuff, then there are a few things of my daughter's - booties and a blanket crocheted by aunts and grandmothers, the clothes she wore home from the hospital, that kind of thing.

I have a scripted piece of Ramses pyramid that I must return to its rightful place one day lest a wicked curse befall me…yep...besides that I have a roman catholic incense box that Joan Miro painted and was given to my Grandfather personally…

i recently had a discussion with someone about prized possessions. i have so many yet i can honestly say i also have nearly none. i'm of the thought that anything, absolutely anything, can be left behind and your only real treasures are your memories. as a 9 year old, i was basically told i could carry 1 thing with me when we left chile, and since that time, i have never attached myself all that closely to my things. what i carried then was a little pink radio/flashlight that was the coolest thing i owned then. now, i'd carry my laptop. other than that, a letter that my mom wrote me when i turned 15 is maybe the most prized thing i own, because it was such a touching note. thassit.

Duh, because the question was about treasured possessions. I got news for you: letters and photos are material things.

nothing?
I honestly can't thing of one possession that I cherish that much. Similar to monkey, I've had an experience where I had to get rid of all of my things (although for different reasons). I have no connection to any material. The things I have I like, they are nice, but if they disappeared tomorrow I'd just kind of shrug.
I'm with her on the fact that memories are the most important to me.

myself included! anything that is yours is a possession though.. ok i treasure MEMORIES of various moments in life. i cant think of anything else one could possess that isnt a material thing.. HEALTH? but health is the possession of properly functioning cells

So wati, what is the question you are asking? Do you want to know what are people's most treasured possessions, or what are their fondest memories? There may be some overlap (because the possessions are generally treasured because of their connection to memories), but they are different questions.

has anyone ever lost a prized possesion?
I "lost" a shellelagh that was in our family for over a hundred years...it was truly a wicked thing though…with notches in the handle for every time it thumped an orangeman...it was quite scary actually...I also lost the rosary I inheireted from the same Irish grandfather that was equally as old...my aunty asked me to bring it back east for midnight mass last year and I couldn't bare to tell her it's gone...

the thing says possessions, but pauli said a letter and that seems like less of a "material" thing than an old statue.. its more priceless? i dunno. i didnt see that you said you kept your babys booties.. yeah like that. i was being lazy with my writing. a letter or a photo are more personal than a piece king tuts socks or whatever.

everyone knows egyptians did not wear socks...that's crazy talk...I also have a pretty bitchin rock collection that I started when I was about 10…this thread is gonna make try and dig it out…haven’t looked at it for years…it’s got bits of petrified bone (dinosaur I’m pretty sure or was at the age of 10),crystals,arrow heads and stones from every country I’ve been to…and Hawaii!
some photos and letters, gig stubs etc - the normal things people keep. And my dads PRS Guitar. Not worth an amazing amount of money but its nice and the memories it brings are worth more.

Just my guitars and recording equipment. My Yamaha mainly since I bought it in Salmiya. Even though it can be bought in the states, it still has some sentimental value to me.
