Can't Stop Partying (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGWowtGWIYw)

Cringeworthy lyrics + 90's eurodance backdrop + Lil Wayne feature - anything remotely tolerable x 10 = worst Weezer song ever.

Weezer are great, but this tune is shit in the ears.

Wow. I am completely shocked. Is this serious? It seems like the only logical explanation is that it's an SNL skit gone awry.

I thought they had swung back from the detour they took with Beverly Hills. This is, like mindboggling.

I really liked beverly hills, is it a low point in weezer fan history, i'm not that big a fan, gotta coupla albums.

if i was being positive i would say maybe they just wanted to do something totally different from everything they have done before.

But i'm not being positive so i'll say that this is making my ears cry.

Its like someone's told them that trying to sound like the fuckin black eyed peas was a good idea. i dont think this sounds like the peas but its like they have just tried way too much to be as commersh as possible.

I mean , sure , experiment with different sounds, like the last 30 seconds was ok, i'd accept that bit as being possible weezer material but the rap, the boring 4/4 and the big "reach for the lazers" synths in middle, oh dear(n)

unless its all a pisstake but i cant see it

hpdrifter

Well, for most of the weezer fans I know Beverly Hills was like the sellout moment. At least until now.

I fucking love this track, it's amazing. It's been on constantly all day.

Right, I better pack this laptop back and wipe the semen from the walls before one of the orderly's see that I've unbuckled this jacket.

it would be tolerable if they got rid of the trashy synth sounds

Pork and Beans was my guilty pleasure for a few weeks when it came out--I'm no elitist.

I don't expect much from Weezer, but how did they lose all the hooks? How did they lose the fun?

upon listening to this song closer, this is a funny song.

come on rivers cuomo saying...

"I can't stop partying, partying
I can't stop partying, partying
I gotta have Patron, I gotta have the e
I gotta have a lot of pretty girls around me

Oh, I can't stop partying, partying
I can't stop, partying, partying
I gotta have the cars, I gotta have the jewels
and if you was me, honey, you would do it too

Monday to Sunday I hit all the clubs
And everybody know me when I pull up
I got the real big posse with me, yeah I'm deep
And if u lookin for me I'm in vip

Just follow the smoke; they're bringing bottles of the goose
And all the girls in the corner getting loose
Screw rehab I love my addiction
No sleep no sleep I am always on a mission "

that shit is hilarious. he is obviously not serious with this. i like this song more now four shore.

if i was 13 and wanted to enter manhood like a baller id like it in a serious way.

as a 25 year old, i take it with a grain of salt and a chuckle.

Is it actually Weezer though? Or is it just Rivers doing a silly sideproject. I hope the latter.
If this is actually the new Weezer song, I hope to God they are being VERY ironic and taking the piss. Somehow, I feel that that's not the case. :(

hpdrifter

Rivers takes himself waaaaay too seriously to be able to take this much of a piss. He doesn't have enough of a sense of humor about his own music to pull this kind of a joke off.

I liked the red album, I'm no Weezer elitist either.

Exactly. Nobody still says "posse" either. That's what really got under my skin. Was he also making two peace signs with his hands and crossing and uncrossing his arms when he recorded his vocals?

Guy Incognito

could still be a pisstake. maybe the rest of the album is usual weezer but they decided to put a really shit track at the start to make the rest seem better than it really is like when madonna got the beasties to support her. or something like that.

checkyourprez
10-27-2009, 05:28 PM
nah i agree with that.

idk how i didnt think of this before, i have his solo albums. this track is actually on it, in an acoustic version. with no wayne of course.

just checked that acoustic version - it wasnt much cop either but then i found this live version which was about the best of the three. i'm not listening anymore because that chorus may take up residence in my brain and i dont want that to happen

frankly I'm pretty fucking sick of Rivers' "irony".

the acoustic version makes more sense and is actually pretty pleasant. somebody needs to wrestle that fucker away from fancy production studios and put him in a shed with a tape recorder for a couple of years.

bleh. disappointing for sure.

Heard a new track on the radio yesterday called let it all hang out, it was MAJOR snoretown. Its like theyre not even trying.

Picked up the album today....it's not bad at all. Lyrically it's more along the lines of The Red Album...the lyrics are very braggadocious and confident rather than from the point of a victim, a la Pinkerton, Make Believe, etc. Standout tracks are...

Let It All Hang Out
Girl Got Hot
I'm Your Daddy
(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To

I'm not a big fan of In The Mall, and Love Is The Answer, while solid and unique, kind of comes out of nowhere and doesn't mesh with the rest of the album.

As for Can't Stop Partying...Rivers stated (http://www.lilwaynehq.com/2009/10/06/rivers-cuomo-speaks-on-cant-stop-partying/) that they sing the song from an ironic and dark point of view, rather than Jermaine Dupri's party anthem style. That should definitely be taken into account before ripping into the song.

Considering that, it's a great jam, and it's cool to hear it more fleshed out than it was on Alone II.

EN[i]GMA
11-03-2009, 09:44 PM
Oh wait, so the song written by the nerdy guy isn't actually a serious exhortation to party, but instead an ironic criticism of it?

I'll be damned...

If Let It All Hang Out is a stand out track then I am DEFINITELY not getting the album.

Such a standard boring as fuck pop song. No effort. Nothing new.

It only makes it worse that he thinks he improved it. I wonder what Jermaine's version sounded like.
