...do you say your full name?

I've seen that in American movies. I don't know about other countries.

Here, we only say our first name. We don't care much about your middle or last name. And another thing...our middle name is our mother's name most of the time and not a name our parents made up.

Just a culture knowledge for moi.Hihi.:D

no we use just first names, unless it's at work or something like that. I think in social gatherings and such i'll start using both names, though. people already think i'm nuts.

first name only. I think I've only used first and last when I have to talk someone that is filling out paperwork on me or something.

In professional settings, its always my full name and title.

On the street where I keep it as a freak, Echewta.

I almost always shake hands and use my first and last name because that's common around here. And yeah, in a professional setting I will also say where I work.

I will give only my first name if I'm meeting someone who I hope to never see again so that they can't track me down.

Depends on the setting, surely? If you are at something like a business event where you are networking, then of course you would use your full name, that's the point. Or if you are new to a company and meeting people from other departments, that kind of thing. Sometimes in situations involving kids as well, if you have 'em, to identify whose parent you are.

When you walk dogs, people will introduce themselves by the name of their dog. I know more dogs' names in my neighborhood than owners' names. The guy next door is "Bear's dad."

haha, my dad would say things about people in our neighborhood like "the house with yellow dog" there was also a house with a jack dog because he looked sort of like our dog jack but not exactly. it was sort of like those kids in the simpsons that look like bart and lisa but evil. i cant remember their names.

this dog named patches lived across the street, and patches was a fucking annoying bitch. jack hated patches, and patches hated jack. once i was walking jack, and we normally try to keep him in our (giant) yard, but he really wanted to cross the street so im like, ok, you can go pee on patches mailbox. so we go over, he sniffs at it for a bit, the he backs up to it, and, i swear to you, does like a fucking handstand with his ass to the mailbox post and lets out a terrible diarrhea-y shit. he shit on patches' mailbox, and he did it on purpose.

we sure showed that patches.

in business and formal setting i will just use me first name but new people socially i used to use my nickname that all my friends use but that did present the odd misinterpretation so i use my first name and somehow my nickname follows me and everyone calls me that. i have had it for 30 years and am never gonna shake it.
