Charla Nash was mauled by her friends pet chimpanzee nine months ago. Doctors have done a lot of work on her, but after having her lips, eyelids/eyes, nose and many other things ripped from her body, she isn't left with much. really is sad.

Well I'll start what I hope is a string of more worthwhile replies.

It's a real tragedy. I honestly don't know how I could go on living like that. When someone is faced with a situation like that and has an even remotely positive attitude it's really hard to feel that any problem I have is worth even a moment of lament. Also the girl camo posted a few weeks ago who had been burned by acid by a former boyfriend.

I suspect that there may be some drugs helping her along with the whole psychological trauma/mental anguish part of her soon to be "full" recovery.

It's interesting that the writer of the article chose to express a similar sentiment using that same word. I mean, you're just posting on a message board, but that person more than likely had at least one other person proofreading their crap.

That chimp was a chump.

Found this video from the owners perspective (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/18/sandra-herold-chimp-owner_n_167855.html), that is the same chimp in the Old Navy ads.

she'll never have to look in a mirror, so she is blessed in a sense that she'll never really know the extent of how bad the monkey mauled her...

I honestly would swallow a whole bottle of sleeping pills, washed down with a bottle of liqour if I were in her situation.

Much respect has been earned by me for her strength to keep on. I already figured people would say crap about her before I read the article but people are just stupid and will do whatever it takes to make themselves feel better, even laughing at other's misfortunes.

oh yeah, a while ago a baby was eaten by a bear out of a baby carriage in the mountains somewhere. we were kinda pissed that the cops killed the bear. so me and my buddy wrote a song about it and people thought it was very insensitive. I was like hey if you don't want songs written about your dead baby, maybe you should keep an eye on it when you build a housing development in the catskills stupid.

Its a modern day freak-show. Whatever your feelings about it being funny or feeling sorry for her, oprah is running a freak show which evoked the same emotions as back in the day (y)

I feel bad for the lady that owned the chimp (obviously for the lady that got mauled too)

But this lady has lost everyone she cared about (husband and daughter both dead, chimp she considered her son) and now has this on her conscious.
