Malbec (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malbec) is my new favorite variety of red wine.
Mainly comes from Argentina now and still relatively cheap for a radical bottle of wine.
For whites I prefer pinot gris(grigio). especially if they are dry.
also Viognier can be damn tasty.
I don't like Chardonnay :(
I almost exclusively drink BC wines. Otherwise its usually south american or australian.
Though, quantity-wise I mostly drink my fiance's relatives home-brew wine <3

My fiance bought a bottle of that Coppola wine for his relatives in New York. hah!
Recently got this (http://www.frederickwildman.com/wildmansite/wmphp/wine.php3?wine_id=48412) as a present for a special someone. yay organic!

try as i might, i still know nothing about wine outside of the red/white differences.
maybe it is a lifelong desire to be different than my father. he doesn't drink beer, but i love it and am always looking for different stuff. he loves wine and knows all about it, and i only drink the stuff when i am there for dinner!

related question:
i have had a gallon jug of cheap white wine sitting capped in my kitchen half empty for a couple of months now. (someone brought it for a party)
is it still up to par for drinking? or should i just start dumping/cooking with it?

a couple of months? uh, wine won't go bad.
if it's a gallon size? it's probably cheap anyway. use it for cooking, maybe.

I find if you store opened wine in the fridge it will eventually take on the smells of any potent food you were also storing in there with it if you didn't have it tightly re-sealed.
yaaaaaaaaay wine!

Ohhhh I didn't read that it was already opened. Oops. Yeah, opened wine will only be good for a couple of days.

yeah, it was a cheap gallon jug. it's been sitting on my counter since it was opened.
i suppose i will have to find a use for it.

it drives me nuts when people don't refrigerate their open wine. it should be put in the fridge and corked! there's way too much sugar in that shiz to just leave it out!

this wine was too cheap for a cork! it was sealed pretty tightly though....
anyway, i did use some of it for my dinner tonight. i used the wine to cook up some mushrooms, onions and scallops that i luckily just picked up on my way home. worked out great!

It's alright if you get one of them air extractor thingies though.
I probably shouldn't be reading this thread whilst I am going through my 'dry January,' huh :(

I could probably give up all forms of alcohol except for wine *yum*. I like all kinds, except anything sweet. Pinot Gris or Sauvignon Blanc seem to be my favorite in the summer but nothing beats a nice glass of shiraz. Now, excuse me, there's a big fat glass of Nobilo calling my name(y)
