No really this time. doing the friday night, eavis has confirmed it.
i got a ticket for the first time in 3 years and its the 40th anniversary but i aint really arsed, i'll probably end up watching them but it all depends on whos on before them , if its a good line up on the pyramid stage i will stay there for most of the day cos it'll be fucking heaving for U2.
All they need now is The Stone Roses to reform on the saturday and Prince to headline on Sunday and they will have a hat trick of acts who have always been the big rumour.

Given the scale of the event, with any luck, they might have a shot of becoming the next Coldplay. Or even the next James.

I wonder if they'll do any of their Joshua Tree stuff....
In all seriousness, I'm sure it'll be a good show. You should be chuffed.

yeah i am glad i have the opportunity to see them but if someone else i like is headlining i may opt to go there but thats always the festival dilemma. but i think i will end up there, it will require planning tho cos its going to be packed, lets just hope it doesnt fucking chuck it down.
it should be good, traditionally headliners at glastonbury do something unexpected, a cover, a guest star for example but i'd settle for them doing a blistering hits set without a load of stuff from the latest album.

I would expect them to do exactly that.

I heard Clipse was the first choice, but they turned it down.

that would be nice but the more i think about it i really want them to do something unique to mark the fact they are at the festival, something they will never do again. I just dont want them to go thru the motions. even if its just a song they havent done live for eons. the headliners who have gone down a storm recently have done stuff like this, jay z, arctic monkeys, springsteen even.

I saw James at Glastonbury once. Everybody sat down....
Then a helicopter came to collect someone injured during the Cure and Julian Cope was cancelled...

they would be one of the candidates but i hope its more of a surprise than that. my wish list would be:
Daft Punk
Eminem (cant see it as snoop and dizzee rascal are on that stage the same day, they like to vary it as much as possible)
Foo Fighters

not even delved into the line ups properly yet. Tbh i am a bit rubbish, i always go with good intentions to see some things and then always try and be relaxed and say i am going to walk round and take in new stuff and go to some of the less popular stages and never do. i just end up at the main stages and the dance tent. maybe this year i will see more different stuff

I realized today when the tour was postponed (soon to be cancelled) that I was supposed to see U2 on the Sunday before and the Sunday after Glastonbury. That's a lot of flying around.

postponed is different than cancelled.
i knew about the postponement.
"we want to stress that this is a postponement of this tour, NOT a cancellation. We will be back and it'll be bigger and better than ever." - the edge@ 3:27 of this vid (http://www.u2.com/news/title/a-word-from-the-edge) posted a few hours ago on u2.com.

I've seen U2's european schedule and I don't see them jamming a show in here this fall in between those Europe dates. I don't see them playing an outdoor stadium here in November either. I suppose it's possible because we are going to play college football outside again, but no one has ever done it with a concert before.
I heard they might reschedule in summer of 2011. My concerts are as good as cancelled as far as I'm concerned.
(I'm glad that Bono is doing well -- I know that's the important thing. And I'm super lucky I wasn't flying to Seattle just for the concert. It's amazing that with how much and how far I travel for concerts this is the first time I've ever been burned by an out of state concert getting cancelled.)

not sure if i am going to see them yet, theres loads of good stuff on friday night. I saw them at creamfields about 6 years ago. they were like the inteerval in the bugged out tent sandwiched between carl cox, darren emerson, and chemical brothers and orbital. it wasnt great, they played as silhouettes behind a screen and werent very together as a band but hopefully it'll be a lot more polished, better visuals and some guest stars. If shaun ryder turns up it'll bring the house down.

All they need now is The Stone Roses to reform on the saturday.
NO! I mean really, can you imagine? Ian Brown, bless him, is a mixed bag live at best. What he lacks in his vocals he makes up for with bags of personality I suppose...but I just think it's one of those reformations everyone wants to happen without actually thinking about it. There's no denying the first album is one of the best debuts of, well, my time anyway. Even Second Coming is underrated in places. But a headliner for Glastonbury? Oasis din't really show up in 2004 and got slated...the Roses would just tarnish a legacy in a depressing but inevitable way. Having said all that, put me in a crowd, pilled up with ane extended I Wanna be Adored intro/opening and I could well be in heaven!

so, festival report, 6 good things and 6 bad things.
Good
1) The weather ( scorching, no rain at all)
2) Muse (surprisingly awesome, i dont really care for them but have changed my opinion and "where the streets have no name" with the edge was best bit of weekend
3) Watching the england game on the wednesday with 80,000 people was brilliant
4) Snoop Dogg - everything i hoped it would be. class act. When he did "pass out" with Tinie tempah, i thought tinie tempah was going to collapse with joy and pride as snoop backed him on the vocals.
5) Stevie Wonder. Top end to the weekend
6) Investigating more of the festival like the cabaret fields (always something going on and usually mental) and arcadia at night.
Bad
1) The complete lack of shade
2) Mos Def cancelling
3) missing orbital even though stevie wonder was good
4) The england - germany game
5) Gorillaz being shit
6) £2 for a very small cup of tea
