so somehow i got lucky and my computer contracted the win32.virut via some file named reader_s.exe. last week it was bogging up the computer, i ran a restore back about a week and thought it was gone. last night it came back with a vengeance.
the little fucker did the following things:
installed two fake antivirus programs that would pop up and try to "run scans" on your computer relentlessly
crashed, but never visibly opened internet explorer once every 2 minutes or so
redirected any web links on firefox to random advertisement sites
installed multiple hot links on my desktop to porn sites
disabled basic features like system restore and the task manager
completely shut down all of my spyware removal programs
thankfully i was able to back up my files on an external drive and reformat. things seem to be okay now, although i am lacking pretty much everything right now besides the web.
anyone else seem to always run into the worst of the lot when it comes to computer issues?

the trick is to run streaming porn, so you dont have to download anything

so, since discovering your unwanted guest what program(s) have you run to remove it or detect others?
I'm curious what works
I have installers for MSE and threatfire sitting on my machine, I have Avira right now but am always looking out for something better

2 things...try running McAfee Stinger. Its free.
If that doesnt work you are going to have to reimage.

well, i copied my files to an external drive and wiped my computer back to factory default. i even reformatted the partitioned drive and it looks like the little fucker is still around, although as of last night it hadn't really done much.
i tried running this program called stopzilla, but when i went to actually remove it, it makes to pay for a full version. i really hate that shit. if you want me to buy the program, then just say so. don't scan my fucking computer over a couple hours and then not finish the job.
spybot was worthless in removing that particular virus, and avira was sort of working until it got hijacked.
i'm gonna give that stinger a try, and search some more here at work for some other freebees.

it took 2 clean restores, 3 different anti-virus programs, and one deep dive into safe mode registry to get rid of the fucker, but it's finally gone.
i think im going to take the streamlined approach to putting stuff back on now. none of that extra shit that i use once a year anymore.
but safe to say, i think all my future porn downloads will have to be on someone elses computer (y)

Bingo.
