A few weeks ago I broke down and decided to buy a next gen system, not a new one but a used xbox 360.

I decided to take the cheap route this time and just buy used games and such. I really don't game often at all and I am trying to save as much money as possible.

So, here I have been, enjoying it very much. I bought Fallout 3, GTA4 and Fable 2 all for less than 20 bucks each.

When I first bought it, the fan sounded a little loud and I asked if it was normal from a few owners and they said theirs was loud. Mine actually quieted down after more use.

Well, it started freezing just last week. I thought I better take it in and exchange it, look around for the receipt and can't find it.. Start playing it more and now it doesn't even bring me to the home screen and there's flashing red lights.

Fucking A, I tore the apartment looking for the receipt and it is nowhere to be found. So, I suppose I'm stuck with a $143 paperweight.

Maybe I'll baste it and throw it in the oven.

hmmm

maybe you can register it and send it in for a free repair. being used that may be problem, though.

yeah, I'm getting a "please enter a valid gamertag" prompt. I didn't get my 360 connected online when I got it because I just wanted to use it for regular gaming.

you can still create an account/gamertag online somehow

maybe you need to do that first

You're entitled to a 1 year warranty, but that depends on how old the console is. I thought they raised it to 2 or 3 years, though, but I could be wrong.

it's three years only for the red rings

I created one, checking the repair faqs and it looks like I'll have to pay. I'm really not in a hurry to fix it.

It was fun while it lasted. I'll probably send it off to be fixed in a couple of months. That will be enough time for some more games to have price reductions.

if the previous owner didn't register it you might have a shot at a free fix

True. I'll get on it tomorrow. I'll also tear the place up a little more to see if the receipt has been overlooked.

I went through one of my coat pockets and bingfucin'go. There was the receipt. I bagged up that piece of garbage that I have been sold and took it straight to gamestop and turned it in and paid a little extra and got a brand new xbox.

I only got the arcade version and it came with just VGA cables rather than HD so I suppose I'll have to pick up the HD ones eventually. I can see that it is quite duller using the vga cables because the 360 I turned in was connected via hd ports.

All in all, I did a good deal because if I would have just traded for another used 360, I could have set myself up for failure again.

So, as of now the games I bought used are GTA4, Fallout 3, Gears of War, Lost Planet, Fable 2 and Forza 2.

I'm not looking to buy new games at all and just want to play games arcade style. I like rpgs, racing games and adventure. War games are ok too.

If anyone has some good recommends for any games, hook a lee up yo.
