I really enjoy a lot of the stuff on Horn Of Plenty, but since it's all Ed's work im guessing they won't be playing that material.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

I listened to their new album all the way through and instantly listened to it all from the start again.

It's so intricate that this needs to be done...multiple times, really. (y)

I listen to it when I drive, and laugh at myself for flirting with the hipster lifestyle. It's a fucking great album, so I punch myself in the face, put the whip into first and roll.

As an aside, it's funny how the only consistent trend in music in the last 8 years has been 'new' music. It's gotta be new. New, new, new. Either a 3-4 album max or no more than 6 years in the limelight. Who is this? Oh, it's this new band. Hey, I like new bands too.

Yeah, well, our culture has A.D.D., so it kind of makes sense.

BUT a lot of the "new" bands of the earlier to mid 2000s are still revered for their newer stuff, possibly moreso than they were a few years back. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Animal Collective come to mind as examples, just to name a few.

Yeah it's cruel that the ones I can't bring to mind were forgettable.

received Veckatimest for Christmas and I must say it tops my favorites of the decade, they fit into what I've been into for the past few years...

I definitely dig their videos

Self-absorbed music critics can't very well take credit for nuturing a band who's already established or has success all on their own.

I guess people just can't get out of the past?

If people can't realize that the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s aren't much different than the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s when it comes to people discovering new music - just the name of the game has changed. Improved technology (ie the internet, digital music, expansive radio/music television) has definitely help increase our exposure to new artists everyday.

Shit I would hate being stuck with a couple choice acts, the joy of enjoying music is discovering new artists and sounds.

Much respect for the acts who have staying power over the decades, some of the artists I liked when I was young are still my favorites (Led Zepplin, Sonic Youth), others (the Cure, Depeche Mode) have come out with albums that I just didn't enjoy and other styles/musicians (industrial) I just don't enjoy anymore.

What is wrong with new? What is wrong with people saying....hey that sounds nice I like that?

who are the self-absorbed critics now?

Nothing wrong with new; it's an observation.

were just making fun of the hipster stereotype that they only like "new" bands, and the minute that same band sells 100 albums they now suck.

also, nobody likes hipsters or self-absorbed music critics.

ps. you need to get laid or something.

Their studio stuff translates live in a way that I find quite astounding and wasn't expecting. It's very apparent to me when they perform that they are all super talented musicians individually. Totally blew my mind. It's amazing to see all the things they do to make their music so intricate (flutes, radio feedback, etc.), they harmonize incredibly (every one of them has a breathtakingly beautiful voice)...Their sound is extremely full for only being a four-piece.

So as planned i saw these on the 14th and it was excellent. you wouldn't expect them to have such a big sound based on most of their records, but the drums were just like BOOOOM in a good way. plus they played immaculately, although they missed out the first few minutes of On a Neck, On a Spit. The recently refurbished roundhouse is an excellent venue too, the sound techs were great, the toilets are all new and clean, it looked great from inside and out, plus its a listed building which makes it a bit more interesting.

Also Beach House were equally great. All in all a good evening :)

Gotta love The Roundhouse. The Monarch pub just down the road is a great place to chill beforehand.

I must listen to these guys if they come so highly recommended by people on here - I clicked on the link that kaiser soze posted and it had a nice jingly-jangly feel to it (y)
