I hate the way Latte is supposed to be proonounced. As in ' LAR-TAY'

Next Latte I get I'm saying 'LATT' as in sounding like 'FLAT'

that will confuse the fucking cunts(y)

I'd sooner pronounce it correctly and not have to have a conversation with the usual 'quirky' types that work in coffee shops.

Just give me the Latte.

I do not care for it, but I LOVED the caramel salted hot cocoa last year. It didn't last long and it hasn't come back, but it was heaven. It was the salty sweet taste. And by the way, only the first few sips tasted like pure heaven. By the time you got to the bottom of the cup it was just cocoa.

we have a starbucks at work, sort of, and they advertised it for weeks before they started selling them and everyone went mental on pay day and got gingerbread latte's in but the general consensus at work is that its shit and too much money

Couldn't they afford to try it before pay day?

every time I've gotten one, it's not "gingerbready" enough. It's way too subtle. Could be that the Starbucks here are not doing it right though.

There can be a huge difference in quality of season drinks from store to store. I've had an amazing Peppermint Mocha at some, and TERRIBLE ones at others.

Gotdamn a peppermint mocha sounds good.

imagine a warm, soothing, comforting wave of happiness rolling over you from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes.

That's what that drink does for me, if made right. :D

i miss the Chantico drink from a few years back that they discontinued.

it was a rich hot chocolate that they described a drinkable dessert...

and now they make egg muffin sandwiches with a cup of tall drip for a pretty good combo price...

/random thoughts on starbucks from a former "partner"

Ive had the gingerbread one yesterday during my training and I thought it was quite nice. But I REALLY liked the dark cherry mocha. Omg, so chocolaty. <3

1 had 1 coupon left today (we got some for free drinks, as we're doing barista training) and tried to order something weird, so I got a White Hot Chocolate with Strawberry syrup. The guy at the counter looked at me like: "What?! :D" but it was surprisingly good. I recommend it. (y)

Tomorrow we have to build up the store and taste all the foods and next week we'll start bar-training, which means we have to practice making ALL the drinks and we can drink ALL of them. I'll probably've gained 20 pounds before january. :o

PS: I hear everyone about the peppermint mocha. Srsly, what? I can't imagine it being good, but maybe it is. Is it on the standard menu, or is it just a mocha with added peppermint, because I didn't see it on the menu in Amsterdam.

never heard of the dark cherry mocha. I'm sure they offer different things depending on the region, hence there not being a peppermint mocha there.

It definitely tastes different than a mocha with added peppermint syrup (which is something I tried once the season was over). It's not at all the same and so I'm not sure what they do to it exactly that makes it taste so good.

Ever had peppermint bark? It's basically that, in liquid form.

I don't really know what peppermint bark is, sorry. :(

But strange that they sell different things in different areas. We are selling these special christmas drinks here, which include the Dark Cherry Mocha (tastes like Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte aka Black Forest Cherry Cake, I don't know if you have that over there), the Gingerbread Latte and the Toffee Nut Latte. I still have to try the last one.

Btw, the further I get in my training, the more I respect the people at starbucks. They have to know a lot more than I expected them to (You get this huge-ass book you have to work through!) and they have to work hard. some of the people in the A'dam branch were looking a bit stressed and tired, but then one of the trainers told us that it was one of the busiest Starbucks stores IN THE WORLD!

The trainers are cool too btw. One's from Canada (and gave us maplesyrup candy and tiny canadian flag pins), 2 are from scotland and 1 is from Yorkshire, but works in the Oxfordstreet store in London. Everyone's really friendly and it's all just a big laugh while learning about coffee (by tasting) and eating cakes. yumm.

I'm pissed off that they haven't brought back the maple latte in years.

There is one locally owned coffee shop that always carries the maple flavoured syrup so it's all good.

I tried making it at home by adding just straight up maple syrup to my drip coffee and it tasted pretty darn good.

I had the starbucks caramel brulee latte a few weeks ago and the first few sips were heaven then it turned into a sugary hell.
