Do Australians (or other snow/winterless places) listen to christmas songs such as Let it Snow and other snow themed tracks?

Or send snow-themed cards?

HEIRESS

I'm curious about that too.

I once received a lovely xmas card from a kiwi and it had a pair of Christmas themed flip flops on the front. I thought that was absolutely adorable!

It's looking like it may be a brown Christmas here in my region. The ski hills had so much snow that they opened 2 weeks earlier than they ever have in history but the valley has gotten jack shit :(

Yeah that'd be interesting to know, those freaks on the other side of the world who have summer during winter - what is your white christmas equivalent? Hope for 40 degrees C?

Oh the weather out side is scorching
And the BBQ looks so delightful
And since we have no place to go
Let us burn our skin real slow...

eh...

OMG, ITS OPPOSITE LAND

Hahah Brown christmas (y)

Here in the UK it's either overcast and drizzling or the sun is out. :(

So i'm completely skint this christmas to the point where i actually can't afford to get anyone anything or go out and do any fun festive activities (i.e. get really drunk). I'm working a few shifts between now and the 25th but i don't think it's going to be enough.

Singapore go big on xmas, the decorations down orchard road went up over a month ago, but they spend millions on them and they totally look the shit. As opposed to here in Evesham where they just look shit. Right now i'd sooner be warm than festive

I am struggling big time this year to get festive, if it weren't for my kids i would ignore it completely. oh, and bbmb secret santa of course!!

the only xmas song i can abide

So of course this will be our first Christmas in Shanghai. For sure a lot of expats 'go home for the holidays', but I hate traveling over the holidays and some of our friends are sticking around too, so we will probably go out to Christmas dinner at a hotel or something with a small group. So far the whole Christmas thing is very weird here. Everywhere you go in any of the markets, there are tons and tons of decorations, trees, etc to buy. (It's all made here, after all.) Around town places are decorated to the nth degree, and carols play in all the shops and restaurants. But the thing is, Chinese people don't celebrate Christmas. Well I mean, the teeny teeny tiny fraction of them that are Christians do, but the majority, no. They don't give eachother gifts, they don't have the day off work, etc etc. They just like to buy a whole lot of stuff, decorate like crazy, and put up even more crazy blinking colourful lights than usual. It's freaky.

18 sleeps to go and i've only bought one present. Finances are such that i'm having to wait until December payday. I'll be the woman in the shopping centre on the 19th running herself ragged.

I've enjoyed hearing Bob Dylan singing Christmas songs in some of the stores. I don't usually like him but when I realize what I'm hearing it usually makes me smile.

i'm on a cookie baking kick, i've been hoarding recipes and going to michael's on a massive shopping spree for things that are christmas-sy. i don't know how this came about, at some point in december the spirit just overwhelms me.

i miss having kids around for xmas, it's more fun when you're doing stuff to entertain little ones.

the only sad part is that after the 25th, i get kinda down cause i hyped up the holiday and it ultimately always disappoints me. that's also when i realize i've gotten fat from eating all them cookies.

I did all my shopping online already. I love the internet.

I wanted to start baking goodies this weekend and the store had NONE of the equipment I needed so that sucked. I'm going to try again this weekend.

Lots of holiday parties. One tonight, one Friday.

And despite what the magazines say, I still love leggings and wearing a long comfy sweater with leggings and boots is the most comfortable thing ever so it makes me enjoy Christmas time even more.

I used to for my bunnies. I know it's goofy but they were very special to me, they were my little haven of quiet, calm and cuteness when other things were imploding and they meant an absolute ton to me.

I found their little carrot stocking with their names embroidered on it when putting up decorations this year and couldn't help myself but have a little cry.

It will be my first bunny-less Christmas in 7 years. :(
