Given the past between these 2 countries over border disputes and even over Tibet, do you think it's possible that there may ever be a future conflict between the 2?

How is the current political situation, and how is this likely to develop? What are the main factors influencing their relations?

I can't see anything other than diplomatic conflict with the two countries - can't see any further violence. Both are too busy trying to catch up with the west before a massive worldwide clampdown on how much more we can poison the earth before we hit a point of serious 'holy shit, we are endangering even the elite of the human race with this shit' type of scenario.

Tibet is nothing more than principle for the chinese I think. India can't go against china's might while its India remains democracy - which it will remain as one.

I'm talking about this as a lay person though, I know no more than the average idiot in the street, just the way I see it personally.

^What he said. They're both too preoccupied with economics to really care about desolate border regions these days. The fact they've both got nukes and high-end delivery systems also mitigates against any kind of drawn-out conflict; even if a shooting war broke out it wouldn't last more than a few hours or maybe days before cooler heads prevailed.

And anyway, India's army is geared toward fighting Pakistan. If it came to a real war without nukes involved I think the Chinese would thrash them.
