My house mates moved out 2 weeks ago, this is the first time I've lived alone without house mates or parents. Its like I am growing up. I had two house mate who were a couple.

I've only had to vacuum and mop the floors once - I used to do this twice a week
Still on the same toilet roll that was there when they left - I have two toilets and I used to have to buy about 8 a week to cover
Playing my music loud first thing in the morning is a treat I've never experienced before
There is always hot water
Things no longer get left on the stairs - I really hated that, its dangerous and not a place for storage
Electrcity use is down nearly 90% - I monitor this weekly
I've only managed to fill up one and half carrier bags of rubbish. It was normal to use at least one a day

I'm sure there is other things to, but I am loving this living alone stuff. I'm so much happier, feel healthier and less stressed. Obviously, paying the mortgage is no longer easy - its actually higher than my income alone but I have savings to cover and hopefully will sell soon, so I'm not too worried about that (just yet).

I don't think now that I've lived this life I could go back to shared housing. I highly recommend that any1 who is slightly miffed at their house mates or parents to ditch them (y)

I've never actually lived completely alone, but I can imagine it's good. Don't know if I ever willl live alone as if I get a place it'll probably be with someone. But she'll do what I tell her to so it will be no bother.

Oh, my ex-house-mates are good people and although tidy, they aren't as tidy as me. I'm running out of things to do. They was almost like picking up after kids and I got so used to is as my job; the three day weekend I have was taken up by getting to the state I left it in 7 days ago and so the cycle has continued for about 18 months. Like its Saturday morning now, I've done more that what I would of normally done by Sunday evening.

I'm running out of things to do. Well not really but those jobs I've put off for months are becoming the only things left to do :o Which are kinda stuff that are most difficult but not so urgent to do.

I probably either need a girlfriend or start working more hours.

Living by yourself is the BEST. I have lived with friends on and off but have realised I'm far too selfish to share a house with anyone except maybe a girlfriend. Definitely no friends or housemates are gonna stay with me anymore.

man, that sounds fun. How many rooms is it? I'd have one for tv, one for rehearsal and one for just innarweb fapping.

Its 4 double-bed house over three floors - far too big for just me. But its for sale so I'm only here until its sold but I've already decided the next place I move to is gonna be alone to. Its only been two weeks but its been nothing but bliss so far. Sharing with girlfriend is different to housemates.

I really only need four rooms to live in. Bathroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Heating this place is a bitch and along with having high council tax, water rates etc - a big house all alone is major suck on resources. But I'm taking the best bits out of it for now (y)

Damn, they must have had some serious fiber intake going on.

why dont you rent out the house for a while so that it pays for itself and move yourself into a smaller place?

Have thought about it - its not a renters place really. More a young family home or older near-retired couple who want a lot of space and spare rooms for when the kids get home. These are the type of people who buy generally.

I also don't want to be a home owner anyway, its too stressful and its a ball and chain around making life decisions. This could be untrue but I think I'd maybe in america right now if it wasn't for this house. Not that I don't love this place, its time for some1 else to enjoy it though.

Plus - it was my parents house left to me, my brother and two sisters so I am just 25% of the owner - the mortgage is crippling and although we could refinance, in the current market it makes sense to sell in almost every way we look at it.
