I feel as if I'm just plain old being an asshole while i'm at work and people come up to me and ask for directions, the majority of time if I even know where the place is I'll tell them I don't know where it's at.
For one thing, it's not part of my job description and I don't get paid extra to guide people. My job is to make sure everything is secure and if I'm not paying attention to my surroundings by telling them to go left here and turn right there and if something happens, it's my ass.
For the most part, people are just plain fucking stupid. I'll be standing there looking around and I'll get crap like, "what's the quickest route to the merchantile grill?". Umm... How about ,"pardon me, do you know where the merchantile grill is?" Seriously, I don't even know what the damn thing is. "Is there a Dunkin' Donuts over there?" I don't know, do I look like a cop to you? I don't even eat at dunkin donuts.
What really boils me up is, "hello, do you work here?" I'll answer with yes and then they're like, "can you tell me how to get to so and so?" I always cut them off with, "excuse me, you asked me if I work here and yes, I do but, you didn't ask me if I'm a tour guide and that I'm not."
I know they come to me because I'm in uniform but I have no badges or patches. They don't know what the hell I am but they see I have a radio so I guess they think I'm mr. tour guide extraordinaire.
I also get a lot of people with maps in their hands coming up to me and asking where places are. Um, you're the one with the map, maybe you can tell me where it is. I also get people with google maps open on their iPhone amd they ask me. C'mon man, that's just lazy.
I don't know. In this day of technology, I take advantage of it before I go anywhere. I always map exactly where I'm going so I don't have to bother anybody.
