Supposedly, this is what the Beastie's debut album was actually supposed to be, hence the name, Original Ill. It almost seems as if the Beastie's mentioning Crack was a bad thing because not only was Scenario completely removed from the album, which mentions crack all through out the song, but the original version of Rhymin' & Stealin' was edited to take out just two small phrases, "Most crackin-est B-Boy!!" "I Smoke My Crack!" The phrase is left intact on this release though so you can hear how it originally sounded. I do find it weird that they can mention dust, and being dusted out, over and over, but when they mention crack, songs and phrases get deleted.
There is another unreleased song on this one which seems to have an obvious reason for being removed from the original album. The song is I'm Down, and it is a kind of Beatles cover in a sense, but it was obviously using an unlicensed Beatles sample and so they were unable to include it though it does sound exactly like a song you would have expected to hear on Licensed To Ill. There are a few other slightly different variations and vocal takes on some of the other tracks but most do not really sound much better than what is on Licensed To Ill. However, for a bootleg, this album does sound pretty decent for the most part. The only not so great sounding track is Scenario. It sounds very unfinished and definitely sounds like a demo version, although this version is the best version I have ever heard of it, as most of the versions I have heard floating around the Internet are not very good quality. And to be honest, its the only song I really wanted on this bootleg.
Tracklist:
01 Rhymin' + Stealin' (Smoke My Crack Extra dialogue on end)
02 The New Style
03 She's Crafty
04 I'm Down (Beatles cover-not on album-deleted at last minute)
05 Posse In Effect
06 Fight For Your Right
07 No Sleep Till Brooklyn (Different lyrics, fade out is longer)
08 Paul Revere
09 Brass Monkey
10 Hold It Now, Hit It (Different ending)
11 Girls
12 Slow And Low (Extra lyrics)
13 Time To Get Ill
14 Fight For Your Right #2 (Different lyrics, extra verses, louder guitars, effects on vocals)
15 Scenario (Unreleased track - deleted at last minute)
(not sure if Im allowed to post download links or not, so i removed them) If a moderator says its ok, I will post the flac links.)
