Hi all,
Put this together, trying to use a combination of military and asian sounds to enhance 3 the hard way. Flame away if needs be.

Hi again,

Playing brass instruments means I find it difficult to resist adding horn sections to pieces. Here's a brass rendition of "Body Moving".

It's not bad. Interesting take on the track. I just wish it had a beat. Where did you get the kids yelling "yeahhhhh" is that from radiohead?

Hi Jiberish,

Yeah I am pretty new to this and I am not as straight up hiphop as most people here would be (only had this iMac with garageband for a year). The kids yelling is from garageband. I am a bit frustrated with some of the beats I have been using and have not really spent the time to figure out how to create my own. Just thinking now, I suppose the best place to start to is to edit someone else's to get a feel for how they are put together.

Thanks for the feedback - I try to compensate for my lack of beats by writing melodies and accompaniments (guitar in the background and the brass breaks). Was happy with the tuba/trombone as the bassline though.

Happy to receive more specific advice concerning beats...

Cheers,
jgk

well, I make beats which is why I don't post them here. But if you're interested www.myspace.com/prehistoriclife

Some are as old as 2000 and I made the using only an sp-202 just learning and trying things. The newest one is from last year it's a remix of a Boston hip hop band, Big Digits, it's called [B]The World iz Yourz. I used a snippet of Mike D in it. I made all the music on an MPC and then mixed it in soundtrack pro. Which I used for the first time. If you find the time, I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts.

Anyhow. You are obviously musical and you have the ability to record sounds. Why not try banging out a beat on a chair, or desk, or hollow door? Coffee mug, desk lamp, spoons, clapping, stomping, yelling. etc. You can always ad reverb, delays, phlange, echos and all that junk in garage band. It's something I think a lot of people do. OR, buy a used drum machine off of craigslist. I use the dr-770. I think it cost me 300 bucks in 2003.

For the record I didn't hate that there wasn't a banging beat. I still listened to both of your remixes and enjoyed them.

this has been a novel by JB
