Anyone else done/doing nothing this New Years Eve?

I was having people round to mine but it all fell apart last minute,

I contacted the girl I crushing on atm and she is alone to but in a different city, I said I'd drive down to her if my car was working and hinted heavily that she could drive up to me but she didn't and since I haven't got her into the same bed as me yet, I didn't want to push the I'm drunk and alone angle too much.

So instead of trying to find company I've stayed in, drank whisky, played GTA IV and watched Sopranos alone :-|

I also am hanging solo tonight. I asked every friend I know to do something...they were either doing something with their spouse or didn't want to do anything at all. My crush was heading north with his friends to ski for the weekend. I've never been much of a fan of NYE anyhow...and can't remember the last time I actually DID anything on this night. I should have volunteered to work....I did last year.

My plan tonight: pizza, Guinness, and a marathon of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. (y)

it's looking like i'm going to. none of my friends seem to be doing anything that i'd be invited to and i really hate going out by myself. and it's not even like an "oh you're just scared, go out and try it, you'd be surprised!" kind of thing, no, i have tried it, i really just hate being in crowds of people that i don't know. i do it occasionally just to try it out again and see if anything's different but nah, it's just a bunch of people that i don't know/like and i end up standing in a corner or something by myself trying to dodge people so they don't spill anything on me and then i go home after one beer because it really isn't worth the effort to muscle my way up to the bar and shout my order at the bartender and hope he heard me right. i think i'll just do what adam did

actually...a friend of mine did ask me to hang out but I turned her down. I love her, but hanging out with her husband and baby really didn't seem like a fun NYE to me. TV and getting drunk alone sounds way better.

I'm going to see the 70's version of the Poseidon Adventure tonight, with my mans. there will be costumes involved.

I'm happy to be doing something dorky instead of trying to go to a bar or a party. and picking out a dress that looks like I'm on a cruise in 1973 was way more fun than picking a regular dress.

I've honestly only had probably one good NYE, it's the most over-rated holiday of the year and it seems like there's always some kind of drama. Last year's was okay, but only because I didn't even go out until after 1 a.m. Still had some drama, though I wasn't involved in it. Drunk people do stupid things.

I do normally make something of new years but its been a stressful week and after work yesterday I just didn't fancy trying to organise everything but thought it would come together. Then 3 people all independent of each other cancelled so I blew off the rest and tried to get my crush to drive up to me but like I say, didn't want to push it.

I fell asleep before midnight even but then woke up at the fireworks then fell asleep again - yup, this is the year I turn 30 - the last NYE of my twenties I spent cold & alone :cool:

well i was all set to do nowt but have cup of tea and watch a load of crap list programmes and the missus was all set to go bed about 9 o clock when she just checked her forum and asked me if wanted to dj to some random dudes who were all connected to some radio software they have on there. ended up getting stoned and playing records to strangers for 4 and a half hours. only about 10 people i think but it was nice to just play records and chat to people online. never played live online before it was good and everyone who listened seemed to enjoy it.

I was watching Clint Eastwood being excellent in 'Gran Torino' when the chimes chimed and then all around my 'hood' were fireworks going off and young kids screaming happy new year like they had just had their first alcoholic drinks.

I had an awesome night. Drove down to London, had some dinner and drinks and a friend's flat then went to a pub with a band playing who did film and TV theme tunes like The Professionals, Bond themes, Starsky and Hutch etc. Got totally smashed, made a fool of myself, wore some silly clothes, got up on stage. My mate lost his socks - but not his shoes... I don't quite understand.

It was a weird mix of people I went with but was a good vibe - my girlfriend, a couple of lesbians, my alcoholic friend, a few others.

Roll on 2010.

Saw a friend's band, some comedy, a contortionist, talked a friend couple down from a drunken drama spiral and still managed to have a good time, got back in touch with a friend I haven't talked to in months. Good times.

I've had apologies now from those who cancelled because they learnt I spent NYE alone. I said its all good because I didn't feel like hosting anyway. I hosted Christmas and was the only one who worked all of it in between, so I didn't mind avoiding that scenario this time, but a little bit of me is glad they feel bad that I am a social freak (y)

I had a reeeeally good new years this time round after three pretty crap ones, but even the crap ones - including the one where my drink got spiked - I can still say were better fun than staying in/being alone (for me, anyway. I get that some people have parental responsibility and such).

This year, I went to a club for NYE, partied all night then went to a dance music festival 9am-11pm on new years day, then went to a nightclub till sometime Saturday morning after the festival had finished up...I think I left home Thursday evening and got home about 7am Saturday morning. Best NYE ever.
