Check out what my hometown does for New Years. They drop a 20' walleye named Willie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81xxsmZBf_8) rather than dropping the ball.

Yep, I'm sometimes ashamed I'm from there.

I was just chatting with my friend who lives up in Bangor, ME. She tells me some dude throws a beach ball covered with Christmas lights over the side of a building when midnight comes...WTF?? woo hoo (http://www.wabi.tv/news/9222/new-years-eve-in-bangor)

You only get about 70-80 of them in your life - for about 30-40 of them you'll be either too young or too old to go out. That logic you should enjoy them but I know exactly understand why people avoid them.
