I'm looking at my house from Bing Maps (http://www.bing.com/maps/?FORM=Z9LH7) and it has the capability to do a 360 degree view from only 20 ft above, the pic is from the summer of 2006, which is weird because Bing was unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on May 28, 2009.

I guess Google has some incredibly serious competition on the maps coming.

pretty solid look. not quite a smooth as google maps, obviously. you can tell they are headed in the same direction, just a few generations behind.

good to see their first go at it works pretty well though

3D is currently not supported for your browser. For a list of supported browsers, see Help

suppose I could change to IE, but then it'd mean changing my whole operating system. The product is not complete until a good majority of the interweb users can use it. Not tried it on my phone I bet it won't work either - if it was Bing Maps BETA then it would give me some confidence they are actively about making things cross-platform (like google) but I can't see that either. I trust google maps to work with my phone, whatever broswer or OS I am using. Like even street view works smoothly on my phone.

Ok, I am kinda anti micro$oft but I have been trying to cut them (along with Apple) some slack recently. But I just think if all three (google, microsoft and apple) put a bit of effort in working closely with each other they would come up with some truely amazing things.

Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) on Firefox/3.0.15 on this current OS and Browser. I know its out dated but there is reasons for it right now with this netbook.

The sat view of my building is the same as Googles. But the birds eye is much more recent (Sat view shows my building as a construction site eg around 2003)

I'm using Mozilla 3.5.7 with the Bing 3D installed, so I do this 360 rotation around my house from 25 feet above and see a kids pool and outdoor chairs with sun umbrellas up for a party I had 3 years ago. I even see guests cars lined up and stuff.

Usually it's pretty uneventful around here but that was a combination family reunion/work friends party that lasted three days. The whole time some stranger was photographing it from space.

Just sailed over Disneyland (http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/#5003/0.6002=q:disneyland+ca:lat:47.9627988578042:long:-122.200996399:nosp:0:adj:0&o=&a=0/5872/style=a&lat=33.811205&lon=-117.918945&z=15&pid=5874) in Anaheim, it's pretty cool to see the outbuildings for the haunted mansion, pirates of the carribean, it's a small world and such.

Nerdy Saturday is in full bloom here.

the content's done by Navteq. They do the map content for mapquest.

a friend of mine sometimes drives around the country mapping stuff in a high tech van thing for them. it's a pretty cool job, although quite boring and not constant.

anyway, navteq's been in the business for awhile now, and Nokia just bought them out a couple of years ago. I'm sure they have plans to go above and beyond.

yeah, I forgot my point. I just wanted to say stuff. :o I can't even look at it anyway, as my work computer is a POS.

Didn't know that.

But yeahwho got it working in firefox and I have a old version so maybe they are trying.

But to be fair, Google leave everything as beta for a longer than they need to be.

The pic of my house is rather old. It's a pic of a building site. My house was built in 2001. Google maps pic is from 2 years ago.
