Just read this (http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/jan/31/foodies-meals-for-one) article and it made me smile; read it if you eat alone more often than not.

So it got me thinking, what do you do for food when by yourself?

I like to cook but cooking for one I always find a bit pointless so end up having a sandwich or something. But, every fortnight or so I find myself making my own dough, letting it rise a little (an hour) and then straight away rolling it out thin and putting it over some metal pizza bases I have, wrap it and straight in the freezer. That way I always have homemade pizza on tap. I nearly always have tomato puree, frozen spinach, cheese, garlic and herbs in stock and its so quick to stick them on a pizza base I made early (normally in that order) and then cook for 10 minutes and you have great satisfying meal of your own creation with so little effort.

I know you can order pizza in but nothing tastes as good as your own dough and making it the way you like it (y)

i wish i cooked better meals for myself more often, but usually i only give myself the time on the weekends.

usually i cook enough for a second person/meal. so my incentive to make something one night is so that i don't have to buy lunch the next day.

im not picky when it comes to feeding myself

in into the oven or microwave, done!

i would put way more afford into it if i had my own family, like real cooking and baking etc

It's a lot more fun cooking for a group.

I'm only big on eating alone when I'm in a foreign city or locale...otherwise I'm a bit like grandma and my pops in that good food is best prepared and shared amongst good friends and family...but when i do cook for myself I alway's do multiple portions...so I usually always have a base curry and a base marinara in the freezer....

I cook just for myself a lot....the key is not to rely on recipes. If you make it up, you don't have to cook mulitple portions. Cooking just takes practice and it's much more forgiving than baking.
