Jon Stewart has appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show and the interview is airing in two parts (today and Thursday). Part 1 is available at the link above. Tomorrow Part 2 will air.

Quality interview and Stewart holds his own nicely. (y)

Dude...that's PATHETIC! You link to the interview from HuffPo instead of a direct link to FOX, who by the way actually aired the original interview. I know you're scared of Fox, but this really shows your stripes DS. If you have to have a HuffPo filter on an interview that you could have just as easily gotten from Fox than I have underestimated your tunnel vision.

Well then, does foxnews.com have the entire interview? Is there stuff missing from my link? By all means, send it on.

Huffington Post is simply an aggregator of news and got the interview from someone else. What I linked to was an 11-minute interview. If there's stuff cut out, BRING IT FORWARD. Otherwise, kindly shut up. :D

Ok travesty, I'll play your game. The FOX News link:

http://video.foxnews.com/#/v/4001020/oreilly-vs-stewart/?playlist_id=87249

It's inferior to my link (only 6 minutes long... half the actual length!), but there you have it. I think my link gives you the better picture. There ya go.

Just like Rush Limbaugh is simply a radio broadcaster.

so carrying and relaying news stories from reuters, the associated press, pbs, the bbc, the guardian, new york times, washington post, la times, nbc, cbs, abc, fox et al isn't carrying and relaying news.

Why not just go to reuters, the associated press, pbs, the bbc, the guardian, new york times, washington post, la times, nbc, cbs, abc, fox et al directly then?
Nobody likes the middle man.

i usually do, although it is good for breaking news, and plus their coverage of politics, sports, entertainment and media is pretty extensive.

DS I stand corrected, and I apologize. You are right that Fox doesn't even have the whole interview posted online. Mea culpa.

However I'm not convinced that you knew that before linking to HuffPo instead of Fox but I guess I have to give you the benefit of the doubt.

It's all right, travesty.

Now... any thoughts on the exchange between O'Reilly and Stewart? I'm curious to see what the rest of the interview will be (which will air later today). O'Reilly was his usual combative self, but I do give him credit for letting Stewart fully speak out. The denials by O'Reilly that they're not GOP apologists are just pathetic, really.

yeah rob, reuters, the associated press, pbs, the bbc, the guardian, all the maor us networks etc, they're all slanted, it's one big biased conspiracy.

and yes, it would be nice to actually address the topic of the thread at hand.

I liked it. As a comedian I think Stewart is a bit out of his element discussing politics with O'Reilly, who eats, breathes and sleeps politcal spin, and I think it showed a little. He made some good points about Obama and I wish they both would have explored that more but neither really seemed interested in it. Stewart seemed happy to not have to get too in-depth and O'Reily was more interested in trying to back him in to an "I gotcha" moment by quickly moving the questions to Stewart's derision of Fox News. Had O'Reily really grilled him I think Stewart would have had a tough time but frankly I don't think O'Reily really grills anyone. He's really softened in the last few years, maybe he feels above it all now with his rating inspipred ego and doesn't feel the need to keep risking feeding the lions that hate him. Anyhow, I love John Stewart and The Daily Show I just don't think hard political talk shows like "the Factor" are his comfort zone. I got the feeling he didn't really want to "stoop" to that level so maybe he held back a bit. I dunno, I'm no analyst.

I can't stand when people avoid thread topics, so my apologies if I'm coming off like that.
If you're interested in my thoughts on the show, I'll share what I saw from the video Lambert posted...

Civil debate is so rare these days that I actually get excited when I see it. It's like the unicorn of the political cable pundit shows.

They were two TV personaities, on different sides of the aisle, and they were able to coexist on Oreilly's show, and have civil and a somewhat comedic discourse.
I can't stand that some feel that you need to hate to disagree.
They both still called each other out, but at least they discussed it like mature, adult people.

O'Reilly typically comes across as a blowhard to me, but when he takes discussion seriously like he did here, he is more impressive than when just spewing forth nonsensical talking points.
I enjoyed seeing him hammer back at Stewart, which I don't think enough people are intelligent enough to do, but I think in the long run is good for Stewart. - example was when Stewart said that Fox News exists basically to prop up Republicans and O'Reilly countered with "then why wouldn't McCain or Cheney appear on my show?" Stewart had no response.
(which was disappointing - the proper response would have been "what would they gain from it? everyone watching your show is already voting for them, so all it does potentially is alienate moderates")

I worked with a guy last week who paid $20 for a ticket to see a Bill O'Reilly/Glenn Beck re-broadcast of their "Bold & Fresh Tour" in a movie theater in Olympia (a 50 mile drive) that was filmed 3 days earlier in Florida I believe. The tickets to see the rerun of a live show from 3 days earlier cost $20. TWENTY BUCKS for TV news pundits op/ed morons.

Everybody is different and I have to be honest, I wouldn't change my TV channel to see Bill O'Reilly or Glenn Beck. For that matter the same goes for the Daily Show....

I could care less about this interview with Jon Stewart, I hate Bill O'Reilly and find Jon Stewart to be entetaining on the clips put forth here once every other month or so, but to sit and watch him daily as his show suggests I would be bored to tears.

Not gonna watch this interview, the ratings must be in da dumper because this is "Jump the Shark II" for these guys.

I have yet to hear a satisfying reason for why you seem to also be against Jon Stewart. I mean, it's perfectly fine if his style and humor is not your thing, but it seems weird that you'd level a similar amount of scorn to Jon Stewart as you would for Glenn Beck and others.

A daily dose of Jon Stewart is way too much... I've only watched the whole show once, I recorded it and fast forwarded through the ads. It's kind of OKish I guess but he misses the mark for me.

I really do think he has moments of clarity and he exposed CNBC brilliantly last year, but not everything he does is golden or riveting. When he does do cool stuff you guys are always here with the clips and I enjoy those moments immensely, I'm just not going to tune in ever.... unless he gets real about an anti-war movement. I'd like to hear more about Mission Accomplished May 1, 2003 (http://www.icasualties.org/).

Colbert was absolutely brilliant too with his 10/31 Project.

PS I'm not against any of these shows

Did he say how many other people attended this? It blows my fucking mind that they could get even a handful of people to pay for something like that in Olympia. They had to all drive in from someplace else. WTF?

P.S. Jon Steward is marvelous. What is wrong with you??? :p

Yeah this guy actually drove from Seattle to Olympia and was meeting some people from a blog or some sort of right wing message board, he was bragging that it was the ex-retired fire chief of Olympia blah, blah, blah.

He laid the ticket out on his desk like it was front row to the Stones or something. I wish somebody was filming me when he did the whole schtick about it, because I deserve an Oscar for my straight faced reaction of "Oh Wow, lucky You!"

Hey he is a funny guy, I'm actually a fan.... just not as much as you guys. I'm super happy when he gets linked up because I know none of you would bother unless it was really great. And so far it's been hilarious.

I do really like Bill Maher, who starts up his season in a week or two. His panels are top notch.

Bill O'Reilly was mean spirited to the son of a 9/11 victim back in 2002 because of his stance on Iraq. Bill O'Reilly can kiss my fucking ass right after he gets done with Snoop Dogs.

They have at least one thing in common, they both preach to the choir.

Rarely will an O'Reilly supporter agree with something Stewart says and vice versa.

Regarding the best location on which to watch the video, considering how they treated the footage from Obama at the GOP I wouldn't assume that watching the video on the Fox site gives you the best possible idea of what was said.

Well, the interview was chopped to shit, so who knows if he responded? O'Reilly kept interrupting, but Stewart was definitely trying to answer the question.

anyway, I think the whole thing was rather boring and pointless. or maybe "benign" is the better description.

I loved the Rachel Maddow part. "Oh oh. We're foes, motherfucker, is that it?" Plus the comment about how no one watches MSNBC.
