I think the Superbowl has evolved enough that the Beastie Boys are ready to completely dominate the extravaganza and class up the halftime pageant with a drop of a hat.
So here is my fantasy set, of course the Beazley brothers will have to figure out a way to chop up these songs to fit into the half time aspect...
Opener is key,
1 - Paul Revere all the way ( Now here's a little story I've got to tell About three bad brothers you know so well)
2 - Girls
3 - To all the Girls
4 - Jimmy James
5 - Sabotage
6 - Intergalactic
7 - Fight for your Right to Party
I'm sure I've got it all wrong as far as the song order... but even if I do that set would be so fucking sick the car jackers would be shakin' their ass out in the parkin' lot.

I like it, but nobody would care. Not that that's ok, I mean I would think people should care. But then again, it's not like they're Prince.

Not to be the other obligatory cranky guy. But, that set list was shit.
Not to be confused as "the shit"
Or "damn, that set list was dope... that was some crazy shit"
It was shit.

Well that is the point, what should the set list be?
How about this, just one long extended jam of "Hold it now Hit It" for 14 minutes, you know stretch it over the whole half time show.

You're being myopic if you think a majority of the world is into the Beasties music at all.
And you're being downright foolish if you think performing "FFYR", "Girls" and a rarity like "To All the Girls" during a worldwide broadcast would be a good idea.
Such a performance would set this band back 20 years.
I mean the very idea of throwing "To All the Girls" into the middle of a set with the ultra slow blend in just seems ridiculous.
So if that makes me cranky, I'll be that.

btw: i (obviously) don't agree with that setlist...but, i do agree that they'd put on a killer SB 1/2 time show!

This is an awkward thread that I'll ask and see if the moderators will have it removed.
I mean even though I've seen the Beastie Boys live 7 times, own every title available and 90% of the remixes (even the shit ones) have most of the video media on my hard drive and up to 8000 posts currently on the Beastie Boys Message Board, I should probably take this idea over to the ICP board.
I must of been way off posting such an absurd idea here on a Beastie Boys message board.
I will lower my expectations and adjust my near-sightedness.
Sorry to one and all for my stupidity.

Also, with the Beasties history of making political statements when given the platform, the chance the NFL would deal with that is slim to none.
Anyone remember a certain wardrobe malfunction a few years ago?
The whole reason you're seeing bands like The Stones, Springsteen, Petty, and The Who is because at their ages, they're "safe".

It would be painful to hear any band play any song at ANY live event that is as slow and mellow as "to all the girls"

LOL. Really?
Did you really go "post count" on me?
8000 is chump change, Bro.

So wtf my playlist was shit too?
Come on how about this, how about what 5 songs would you want the beastie boys to play at a massive (super bowl-esque) venue? You know one where they get mass appeal round the world....

It's been done in New Zealand at hip-hop nights and it sounds good.

It's not always about you, your self importance amazes me, I'm a member of this message board and I'm pointing out that it is more than casual. I'm a big fan of the Beastie Boys and made a post of "what if" and thought other fans just might want to post something cool about it.
So get over yourself, try and figure out I'm not into a pissing contest and move on. I asked that this thread be deleted because "Going Large" doesn't seem to be in the Beastie Boy Message Board vernacular anymore.
That is sad.

They'd get 12 minutes, like everyone, so about two minutes of each:
Intergalactic
Sure Shot
Paul Revere
So What'Cha Want
then all of:
Sabotage
And as far as controversy - pfft, the Super Bowl would sign them on in a heartbeat.

I'd prefer a nice 12 minute jam of "Some Dumb Cop Gave me 2 Tickets Already" with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Lil' Wayne (If he's out of Riker's), Chris Martin, ZZ Top and Tom Jones.
I think everybody would be all over that shit!

I like it. I like it alot. It's tight. Tighter than a __________
"We interrupt this post for a test of the emergency broadcast system. This is only a test. Had it been an actual emergency you would have been instructed to bend over and kiss your ass g'bye."
__________ girdle on a Baptist minister's wife at an all you can eat pancake breakfast.

I doubt you'll care, but.......
Back home a lot of clubs run the entire gamut of electronica and other styles, dedicating nights of the week to genres like Drum n Bass, Dubstep so on and so forth. Thursday night at my venue of choice was hip-hop night. $2 pints. Good times.

So far this is the best... I would hope there would be a few surprise guests to ramp up the beats and change up the the mix. That would be awesome.
IMO the Beastie Boys would be incredible during a Superbowl Halftime show. Legendary beyond Prince, who really did put on a tight knit performance a few years ago.
