Stakes is High is suck a bad ass song. Plus it's got the "electrify" sample from Electrify. So extra Beastie connectedness in that MCA is awkwardly dancing in the background.

Actually, isn't that a sample from "The Vibes"? Recently from the Ill Comm rerelease.

I always love them doing laundry and dishes in the video

Wouldn't that have been the De La sample the Beasties used as apposed to the other way around?

De La Soul was one of the best.. those first 4 albums are insane (expecially the first two).

Yeah. that's what I meant/said. De La says "electrify" in the song, Bboys sampled it to make "Electrify"

It could be the same Vibes sample, I dunno. I'm talking about the word "electrify" from the beastie boys song Electrify on Hello Nasty. The Beastie Boys sampled it from this De La track.

The third one and the fifth one and the seventh one are awesome, too.

And the Beastie Boys sampled 'The Vibes' on Sure Shot. The drum fill that's scratched at the start of two of the verses. Check it.

where is he in the video?

This reminded me he's in Busta Rhyme's 'It's A Party'. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUMp9PoC8go)

Which reminded me "The Coming" was a good album.

he shows up about 24 seconds in. I think it's Phife [I'm guessing here it's blurry] is sitting on the basketball rim and MCA is chilling out next to him.

Agreed. I was just listening to their 3rd and 4th albums a couple days ago.

I'm pretty sure that Busta Rhymes is a fan, and it's cool to see Yauch show up in one of his music videos, but still...it's kinda weird seeing Yauch making a cameo appearance.

OK...The "vibration" sample comes from the beastie boys in their mix tape from 1994....This song comes from De La's 1996 album Stakes is High...So if people wanna know the chronological order of who did what first, here it is. Now,with that being said, the BBoys and De La are in a close circle of musical tatses so it doesn't surprise me that they have used these samples, now if you all heard of Mission Impossible by De La, Pos freestyles over the flute loop beat..good mix tape album

It's not the Flute Loop beat, it uses the same sample but in a different way. And since they state on the mixtape that it was done at the time of De La is Dead, you can see that they actually flipped that particular sample before the Beastie Boys.

It's all about 10 minute jams for the dj piss/smoke break. Old school rap is key for that.

if you come in at around the 1 minute mark Power by Earth Wind and Fire is good for a piss and getting a snack. But I DJ at a used Car Auction, so I don't think we're talking about the same thing. (lb)

In many ways I think I respect your hustle more than that of the wanker "DJ"s of the world.

(y) Thanks. I expect a list of the many ways you respect the hustle, and the few ways you don't. Monday morning. My desk.
