So I recently started to grow a beard and I'm at the point where I need to buy a trimmer. Any advice? A lot of the ones I'm looking at is aimed at stubble, but I want more than stubble but have it all evened out and defined

There must be something out there, what about this one?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000SZ7460/ref=asc_df_B000SZ7460568581?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=7974&creativeASIN=B000SZ7460

maybe that' s too close to stubble.Maybe it's just down to standing in front of a mirror for hours clipping away

Thats actually the one I have open in my browser right now. Just searched amazon for "beard trimmer" and sorted by popularity. The choice of length setting seem good but all the pictures just show stubble

Seriously? A beard? Is that so you can match it with your flannel shirts and Grizzly Bear posters?

my trimmer is basically the same as the one posted. it's not to bad, does the job.

what more do you expect from a trimmer? i don't know about that one you're looking at, but mine allows me to pop off the length setter piece if i want to cut all the way back. it also has a smaller bit that slides up and is great for trimming out the edges.

in any case, if you are looking for something that give a clean shave, don't expect it to have any trimming ability....

oh, and i recommend rechargable but with the ability to run it with the cord as well. my last trimmer used to sit on some base to charge up and every use got shorter and shorter before it was completely unable to hold a charge

I want something that can trim it to keep it at a certain level but maybe also be able to trim around the edges. (I seen a Philips nurelco one online that has multiple attachments for trimming the moustache etc) but the philips one seem hard to find in the uk

it looks like it's the same thing i use, only shinier. the tiny little blue rectangle in the middle shows what level it's set to and the black dial above it which you can't really see is what you twist to set it

I use Wahl clippers. I don't think it's very effective, though. Usually, I just shave it all off and start over.

I can pretty much grow a full beard within 5 days anyway.

Yeah. Do you know what levels yours goes from-to?

i just checked, it goes from 1 to 9. 1 is pretty close, it leaves you with slightly more than stubble (and you can take the top attachment off if you want to shave it down to nothing but stubble with the razor directly). 9 is so high that i can't imagine how bushy your beard would have to be have it do any good, there must be an inch or so between the blade and the attachment.

i checked, and this is what i have (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-ER224-ER-224-Cordless-Trimmer/dp/B002LP50U2)

i think it has more features than the other ones posted, but none of that fancy vac suck stuff. i really like the insane amount of lengths you can get, but it kind of gets bogged a little if you take too much off at once. just means you gotta stop and dump out the clippings.

I just use the clippers we bought to give my sons haircuts with. Put on the 1 guard and go to town. Once a week on Sunday does the trick for me.

Also, lol @ not trimming a beard that shit itches more than crabs after ten days.

So I ended up having to go to boots on my break as I couldn't wait for amazon and the such. I picked up this (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-8562.aspx) (and I'm pretty sure I paid more than tescos.....) but I don't know how good it'll be. I'll test it out tomorrow I guess.

i owned one of those when i was in college, that was my first beard trimmer. i literally have no memories of how well it worked. the only thing i can remember about it is that i cut my finger playing with the attachments
