that renovation or crash or something back in 2003. my name used to be beasties845.
I wonder if the beastie boys knew how much hardship that cost us - the withdrawals we went though in that unknown time (remember aleybees, tulla, yerfavbandsux, cerveza -where are they? hello?) , the other much cheaper looking board someone made that we posted on, and the horror of our giant post counts resetting, new names in april 2003?
this place is something else, no joke - one of those online communities that sprouted 10 years before online communities became alive, can only speak for a fraction. a spontaneous community of people that happen to like one group, how does this thing go on - do other bands have the same absurd following of a certain and small group of people? can't think of many things i have held longer in my life than being a part of this message board. someday i am hoping to do a study of this board and the people that post here, that's all.

I posted on the deftones board starting in 1998 for about 4 years, I think. That one also started as a chat and morphed into a posting board.
It was similar to BBMB, a smallish group of regulars, people talking, sharing life experiences, opinions, etc. It wasn't quite as cohesive as this place is but it came close.
When the board crashed, Fern posted a picture of his dick on the temp. forum.
Didn't Kate D fake the suicide of that girl? I can't remember if the girl was even real in the first place.
Then there was the time that Bob posted about losing his virginity and how he came so hard he thought he was going to shit the bed, but then that was all a wind up too. Was that Kate D again?

only been here 4 years and i can only remember anything from last year or so.
the whole kenny whatsisname v everyone thread was funny
bobs date thread even though it was like last week or something, maybe bob wouldnt thank me for mentioning it, but i just thought it was nice the way pretty much everyone on here was pleased, encouraging, supportive and hilarious etc.It was a good example if whats good about the people here.(y)

additional: I think the great moments for me and probably others are personal - like getting you through stressful times in life and meeting people off here.
I remember the suicide one, it was pretty intense, a joke that backfired in a way the originator didn't expect I think.

I really enjoyed the 'Sick of Yauch' thread after 9/11/01. It was about 25 pages long before it got locked. Yauch came on it (I believe) 2 or three times to state is point of view. It was cool even if he is a hippy. My favorite part about the board as a whole is that you get an international view on things: how others feel about events that happen. THe people that you meet are crazy too. I have never met anyone from the board (stood up by Adam when he was in NY, and living on the SAME street as Hotterthanthe sahara), but it is odd how you can think of them in a real-life context. That's what gets me; that and my cock being one of rirv's favorite board moments ;) .
My original name back in 1998/1999 (i know I was still in high schoo) was 'Dda1yaknow' ....
Does anyone know what happened to a-z?

Madame Demento was real as far as we all could tell. She was an Armenian American who liked SOAD and taught me a lot that I previously had not known about the Armenian genocide. I think that right up to the point where she said her parents were institutionalizing her it was actually her.
I think that Kate D and Afronaut were kind of tired of her depressive episodes and the board's reaction to it all and so they made a username that was nearly identical to hers and posted the suicide note that got everybody so up in arms. It really wasn't funny at all, but Kate D was still a pretty swell gal.

As a close confidant and accessory to Echewta's crimes, I can back up that dudebro is not the enigma that is/was Ashley/Skye/etc. I mean, his spelling is ridiculous, but hers was borderline retarded. Whoever was behind that mysterious troll was someone definitely female, and definitely twisted. She texted me at Coachella, and that was the closest I ever got to solving the mystery.
And holyfuckingshit the diss video. Ohhhh my god. Totally forgot about that beautiful moment.
