I'm thinking I just want to look age appropriate and have like white hair and wear modest modern clothing.

I'm planning on aging as gracefully as Dick Clark had been doing up until about 15 years ago.

Or like Bob Barker. I mean, Bob looks about as good as a guy pushing 90 really can.

my grandmother had dark hair like mine and it turned into bright white. and the few sprigs of "gray" hair I've got coming in are shiny and white.

emmylou harris used to have dark hair like mine, and hers turned white.

Bob Costas for the fucking win. Dude hardly has aged since I can remember.

I wouldn't say i plan on being hot. You can't plan the inevitable.

But i do wonder if im still gonna rock the hoodies and skully caps with the fresh kicks when im 40+...not that 40+ is old.

I think it depends on what one considers "hot', no?

I mean, I feel kind of bad for women who seem to be trying to hard to look like they are 25 when they are, like, 45. By which I don't mean by 45 you have to 'give up' and dress like the Amish, but just, like... relax. I mean look at a woman like Helen Mirren. She's gorgeous. Is she tug-job fodder for your average 22 year old? No, probably not, but so what? She's not botoxed and pressed into leopardskin miniskirts; she's an older woman who is working at the top of her game, making it look effortless and looking really fine, classy and smart and altogether fab.

You stole my answer.

I plan on being un-boring and juvenile for the rest of my life. Not being tied down by family or or boring husbands or anything like that. I want to travel, go to gigs, learn stuff...
My bff has an aunt who is now almost 50, but she looks really young, wears 'trendy' clothes, goes out every night and lives her life to the fullest. That's just amazing, I want that! Also, she's a lecturer at London University and has done extensive research on House music. Awesome.
I also think our very own b-grrrlie is a great example of how to be an uber-awesome mature lady. I hope I can be like her when I grow up. :)

what exactly does that entail? Candy-flipping and dancing like a ritard to the same beat for hours?

yeah, I was wondering about the hoodies. my friend said her boyfriend got different shoes (he normally wears sauconys), and then our other friend said, "is he going to stop wearing his hoodie too?". Said boyfriend is 34 and generally looks and dresses like a beefier older Michael Cera (not on purpose, and he also gets told he resembles Harrison Ford, so uh, you're welcome for that information).

And I thought about how it would be weird if everybody just started dressing like grown ups.

I say hoodies 4 lyfe

Just for future reference - don't use silk scarves. The fabric can slip if you move around and the knots get tighter than you want them to be, and harder to undo. File that away in the back of your brain somewhere.

I want to dress cute still just age appropriate. I really hate the super short old lady hairdos though. I want to rock a cute bob or something.

I hope my healthy hair holds up at that age to do so though. I'm guessing most go the super short route because their hair is not as healthy looking as it once was.

Nope, don't believe ya. ;)
My sister has a daughter and she's constantly complaining about never going anywhere and blabla. It's not entirely true, because she does still go out occasionally, but then she has to be up again at 7 AM because her daughter doesn't care if mummy only got home 2 hours ago and has a bit of a hangover.

I just don't like the idea of all that responsibilty. I just want to be able to pack my bags any time I want and do whatever I feel like doing. I'll probably be one of those disgusting 'kiddults' when I'm 40.

Thank you for the tip. Part of my job is to make sure I'm familiar with knots. I would recommend a figure 8 rewoven. It will not move around or become tighter, and is easy to undo. Just saying for the back of your brain...

total hippy grandma with a saltNpepper afro, an a immense garden, huge pantry of all my own canning goods overflowing out of it, home library so huge it deserves a separate will, stained glass studio/pottery wheel in the basement and I hope to wear a kimono 24/7.

I can plan on it but that doesn't mean it'll happen! I just look after it all now so hopefully i'll age ok....allthough i just had a quarter sleeve tattoo so i'm not doing it gracefully. No surgery though, wrinkles gotta look better than the wind tunnel look. And i'm with nodana on the short hair thing, my mum got hers really short in fact most old people i know do but i don't want that for sure, and already got loads of grey hair but keep it dyed, praps one day i'll let it go...i like the lilac rinse Kelly Osbourne had last week!

i want silver hair after age 60, to go with my double wide butt i plan on acquiring at my older age. i figure if i manage to look like my grandmothers, that aint a bad deal. my mom's mom just turned 70 (and the earth shook for her on her bday) and even though she's tanned most of her life, she doesnt have leathery skin, nor is it all that wrinkly. she's probably the least wrinkly non-botoxed 70 year old i've ever seen. she's very thin though, i figure the double wide butt is what's waiting for me since im already like halfway there. my mom is a hot (almost) 50 year old. i hear the word "milf" whispered behind me every time I show someone a pic of my mom. it's... flattering... i ... guess...

i also plan on having diabetes. cause im not good at preventing the preventable.

I have really dark hair. So I guess that I will look like al pacino when I'm old, with white hair, black eyebrows, and an angry expression. I think it will be awesome.

Thanks to hairdressers having a massive mirror that you can only avoid looking at yourself for so long, i'm now feeling old and not remotely hot, it's proper rubbish. Next time i'm taking something to stick over my face

she's not exactly hot, but is it really appropriate to try to be hot when you're 76?
