This is why Democrats suck

The Student Loan legislation (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703791704575114020658755684.html?m od=googlenews_wsj)that is being attached to the healthcare bill typifies why I get so frustrated with Democrats.

Essentially they plan to take over complete control of the federally insured student loan process and cut out the lending bank's role and thus fees. Sounds good right? Cut out the middle man, reduce costs, reduce fees? Well not really because the Democrats are at the helm.
1) The cost to student borrowers will remain the same....lame.
2) The lending banks will lose revenue that ultimately gets loaned out to others in the community so this just helps tighten an already difficult credit situation for America....lame.
3) The government will keep the "saved" money and use it for whatever it deems "best" and we all know how that goes.....lame.

So in the end, the student borrower sees no benefit (reduced fees), the community sees less credit available and potentially lost jobs but the government sees more revenue at it's disposal. This all just another federal government power grab by the Dems under the guise of "helping people" by deciding what is best for them. It makes me want to puke.

It's the same story with the Healthcare Bill. An overwhelming majority of the polls show that the people don't want it, but Obama is determined to shove it down our throats. It's amazing how out of touch the Democrats are anymore.

Student loans sound like some kind of socialist policy giving people equal access to elitist education. The Republicans should try and scrap them when they get back into power so that only those people who have worked hard for it can afford to go to university.

The job of politicians should not be to represent the people who elected them.
The job of politicians should be to pander, lie, distort, and give away to get themselves reelected.


Leadership is convincing the public you are right about something and building a consensus to pass landmark legislation. Take for example the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

About 60% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans voted in favor of it.
That had broad consensus.
In the modern world where we have a country split between two parties, Obama's job is to build such a consensus and then pass a health care reform bill.
He simply hasn't been able to do it.
Or perhaps he has been unwilling to do it.
Or he was under the pretense that he didn't have to do it becaus of the political advantage the Dems previously held with the supermajority.

This isn't the fault of the political climate.
It's a lack of political experience on Obama's part, but moreso an overall lack of leadership.
This is the first time he has ever lead anything. It's evident that he just doesn't know how.

His idea of leadership is giving as many grandiose speeches as is humanly possible.

I think Obama should put out massive propaganda and tell everyone they're going to die of cancer if the bill doesn't get passed. Then if anyone disagrees they should be labeled unamerican. That's the way you get shit done in this country!
