View Full Version : Excuses used to get out of dates?
I was going on a date tonight but she text me this morning to say she had fallen down the stairs and can't make it. Pretty sure its genuine and we're re-scheduling to next week.
I was on a date once that wasn't going all that well and she left for a cigarette and made a phone call. Then came back and got her friend to call to say that her house was on fire - I'm pretty sure that was a lie - lame but a great excuse all the same.
So you guys had any genuine or non-genuine excuses to get out of dates that you've used or had use against you?

Actually -- and I may have told this story before -- not an "excuse" to get out of a date but a straight-up break:
I was dating this girl who turned out to be disturbingly passive, always defering to me even when I would almost literally beg her to know
what she wanted to do.
"I don't care. Whatever you want to do."
"No, really: I'd really like to do something that you choose. Seriously. What would you like to do?"
"I don't care. Whatever you want to do."
"No, really. I really want you to pick something."
"I don't care. Whatever you want to do."
At first, I thought it was just her idea of being ladylike or something, but this went on for something like two or three months.
Finally, one night I picked her up and and asked her what she wanted to do and she said she didn't care. Same discussion
as usual, so I drove her right back homeand said if she didn't care, then she wouldn't mind just staying home without me.
Not very nice, but dammit.
Did you call you after? Do you want to talk about what happened? If you want. haha.
The girl I should of been seeing tonight is a little like that, but not that bad - just shy. We've been out on a couple of dates before. Anyway, if we get that line of questioning I might say to my bedroom since we haven't done it yet. Its worth a shot right?

I have used my job at least a half a dozen times to get out of dates. Usually year round I know where I'm going to be for the next week but occasionally I'll get dispatched at the last moment for a job.
It works well since it really is my lifestyle. But it also works against me because it is my lifestyle, if you know what I mean. Sometimes I won't see close friends or enjoy regular parties and get togethers for months at a time. And on more than one time I've missed out on some very hot dates due to work.
