View Full Version : You wouldn't really change anything about it though, would you?

I know you have ideas about what doesn't work with the Hot Sauce Committee (see what I called Tadlock's Glasses?) stuff that's out so far, but could you really suggest anything better?

redo TMR...

Kid Presentable

^maybe. Maybe not. Would different be guaranteed to be better? I have thoughts about TMR, but I really truly enjoy it as it is. I could only think of things that would make it different. What did I have in mind?

Still only different, and better that these ideas are put to sleep now.

Well, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, if I had to choose one word to describe B-Boys in the Cut it would be "embarrassing". My 2 year old nephew could make that beat. Vocals are straight though. Other than that, the record sounds like it won't suck. TMR could use a little more variation, but I understand the point the Beasties are at in their career, so I'm not too critical of that type of stuff anymore. They're in "fun mode", as opposed to "blow your mind/got alot to prove" mode.

cheers.

B-Boys in the Cut will probably work a bit better in its proper context. TMR could maybe do with louder guitar and maybe terminator on the bassline sometimes???

Have Nas in the studio with the B-Boys so they could all catch the same vibe (as opposed to Nas sending in verses over the Beasties beat and then the Boys adding their lyrics).

I also would still love to hear a remix of TMR, with -too many rappers-, a la verses from Lupe, Q-Tip, Del, Andre 3000, Common, Black Thought, De La, Cool Kids, B.O.B., Asher, Jay-Z, Pac Division, Hesta Prim (of Northern State), Johnny Five (of The Flobots), Bother Ali, Redman, would be some of my choices, then the bigger concept would be the Beastie's rhyming with other rappers who they think are the current "true Emcee's". I would have not problem if all the remix rappers sent in their verses (no studio vibe needed for this one since the theme has already been picked).

I could see a remix like this gets major radio play.

I forgot Mos and Talib for the remix, maybe DOOM as well.

Speaking of Mos, check what our man Max did!

Hesta Prim (of Northern State)

I like all the tracks, but the one thing that I think could be improved is the length of Lee Majors Come Again...for me it's just too long. As a hardcore kind of song I think they should keep it short and sweet, but right now it seems to drag on a bit toward the end.

Yes sir, sorry sir! (http://store.theonion.com/product/good-day-to-go-sailing-if-youre-a-dick,226/)

Ya, Hesta shouldn't be on the remix, she doesn't realy fit. I was just trying to think of a female MC that fit's the vibe but doesn't just rhyme about her pussy. How about Jean Grae? I don't know, that doesn't seem right either. Humm, maybe no Femcees' on this one.

Oh wait, I've always wanted to hear Missy do something with the Boys....

Could definitely see this happening, not necessarily with these artists (hopefully not with many of them). Could be the Z-Trip project??

I don't think them being in studio with Nas would do anything though, and it's totally hippied up.

Being in the studio and laying vocals together certainly counts for alot, no doubt about that. I definitely can sense the disconnection on that tip in TMR for sure. Energy-wise, sonically, generally.

pffft it's how it's usually done in hip-hop, isn't it? Not even Wu-Tang were in the studio together for most of their shits. You only 'sense' it because you know that's how it went down.

a) it wasn't always like that.

b) wu-tang is a different matter for so many reasons

c) and yes i was suspicious from the get-go of the recording, though i feel no need to try and convince you of that.

not that i'm a Stones expert by any means...but I always think they released Start Me Up when they were in their 40s...no reason the bboys can't come back with some hard shit as well!

Fair enough. I just think that a more positive/fun song, not a shout out for the industry to 'step your rhyme game up' song, would have happened if they had been in the studio and Nas hadn't taken the lead with the direction of the lyrics, but instead they wrote together. If you look at Nas' lyrics they seem like they where just leftovers he had in his 'book of rhymes' that he was going to use for the next act that wanted him on a feature. This is the only lyric that suggest he's on a Beasties track 'But anyway I better pay homage to my fellas,'. The chorus seems like it was written afterwards and guides the theme of the Beasties lyrics. I do like this song, I just thought this collaboration would be more positive like Nas' "I Can" or on a political tip or something. I wasn't expecting the Beasties to tell rappers to step their emcee game up and pay respect. Maybe colabos are just overrated!?! Just cus the current state of raps is cool with sending in verses for mixtapes, remixes and colabo's dosen't mean it's the way the Beasties should do it.

As far as who should be on the remix, if my list is so off (again, fair enough), who would you choose?

c)you haven't liked anything from the jump-off in the last 6 years

ha. that's bull. plus i never said i disliked the track, simply made an observation. and that's about the last of the energy i'm going to waste on the issue.

and just as a sidenote, your 'holier than thou' pretentiousness is so tired. i just don't see why you feel the need to consistently challenge people and attack posts. don't worry man, we all know you're the coolest kid on the boards, you can ease up now. (y)

I'll admit I had a sense of dread when I saw your reply, fearing that you were going to go off the deep end, so maybe I was out of line. If you can't defend your position, or move past Hello Nasty, it's cool. If I offended you, my bad. I've removed all of my posts.
