I feel fucking bad for my parents for having a 30 year old child like me. Except my dead parent, but still. I remember 30 year olds used to seem to have their shit together. harumph
I'm 30 to - except I have two dead parents so I win...
...oh, wait.
Nah - career and personal wise I am in a worst position than I was 10 years ago but I'm a million times happier I think. Can go with the flow a lot more.

Yeah I mean I don't think I care much I'm just trying to get the requisite freak out over with before December. I play Streetfighter with people my age, they all suck too. At dealing with their age, not at Streeties

yeah, because any 30 year old who isn't proficient in streetfighter probably has no real reason to live
Ah man, don't say that. I suck at street fighter IV - I stopped playing it because the final boss is a step up too high on any level for me. I'm 30 in June so do I have two months to get proficient at it? I can do that.

I had a really good year 30, best birthday i ever had. didnt stress at all about it but there were definitely signs of getting older/wiser/turning into me parents but no biggie. i'm not far from 40 now and am starting to get the willies about that.

Yeah i spose a freak out is the wrong term. Let's just call it introspection.

A little introspection never hurt anyone.

I blew out my 30th. Went to Vegas with 12 of my friends. Bought some fancy dresses for the club, did VIP table service. Didn't wear any shoes other than six-inch heels for three days. Yes, I was rocking my white patent leather peep toe pumps with my polka dot bikini around the pool too. I actually felt like a rock star. It was awesome.
Very little if any introspection, though.

GOAT visuals.
At least I'm not Matthew Lillard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Lillard), I guess.

yes. 30 isn't so bad. Turning 33 this year just felt like another day. I find I use the phrase "when I was your age" quite a bit now.
Turning 30 is so 2003.
I went to London for 10 days.

I got drunk in Putney with my friends and had to go home by 8.30ish. Shameful but amusing too

Whenever I feel unaccomplished I'm comforted by something Seneca the Younger said:
"You're leaving no duty undone, for there's no fixed number of duties laid down which you're supposed to complete. Every life without exception is a short one."

You can even start calling yourself Grown Man Presentable. Has a nice ring to it.

same, although I'm not really worried or thinking much about it. Life has been fun the past few...significantly more fun than it was at 20, 21, 22...so I figure everything will continue to come up Milhouse and Im all good.

I'm rubbish at being grown up. I'm literally astonished every time i have to think how old i am. Which is pretty old.... i've only 4 years until 40. That's just RIDICULOUS.
Kid P you've got no worries. And despite being 36, i still worry a tiny bit what my mum will think/say when she sees the tattoo i just had!

I had a hawaiian-themed sci fi rave for my 30th birthday.
I had fun, but still ended up sad at the end. I'm not too upset about being 30, I'll probably start getting upset when I start looking old. I've pretty much looked the same for the past 8 years.

my 30th birthday was the best one
Bongs/Guided By Voices gig/Booze/Puking up
it was in Melbourne, Australia too which was a big bonus
I dunno what I am doing for my 30th yet - I have two months - somewhere with a beer garden and food sounds perfect. I can hope for a nice day since its in June but not guaranteed.

Now i feel bad for being so rubbish at celebrating my birthday...the older i've got the more i try and hide from everyone as it gets closer! Mine was three weeks ago and not going out for it until next week! I prefer going all out for other peoples birthdays.
Apparently i look younger now than i did years ago so tht's a bonus but it's still waaaay too scary, getting old has always been one of my primary fears.

I'm the same - I would try and tag any celebration I might be having onto someone else - I'll attend the party but be a partial observer rather than the life of it, its just who I am.
Its only cus its my 30th I thought something should be arranged, even if just small but of a little note. But a beer garden is not that special since I'll sit in one every time there is a nice day and a day off, but I know I might be a bit more centre of the attention - last time I did anything special for my birthday that was planned was when I was 21.

Hey man thanks for upping this. At the time I indeed had mixed feelings about turning 30, but I've achieved so much in my 20s I actually can't wait to see what's in store. (y) You might have confused the tone of this thread with depression - you'll understand the feeling of anticipation when you get there.
