For many of metal music fans in the world, today is a very gloomy day. Peter Steele, one of Type O Negative band personnel, passed away at his 48 because of heart failure. Peter Steele’s death has been confirmed by several parties since last night, although there has not been any official confirmation from Peter Steele’s relatives. Announcements of death originated from fellow bandmate Kenny Hickey, Fuse Host Mistress Juliya, and an expressive post on the Type O Negative website. But, is it factual enough or is it merely a hoax (again)?
As much as we want it to be a false prank generated by particular individuals, we believe the update to be a factual report, as countless number of fans reacted on Twitter. Besides, TypeONegative.com includes the following message today “The forums have been re-opened. Please play nice and expect statements from the band and family later today. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
On the other hand, several sources claimed that the update was merely a hoax generated from the band, who are famous for their dark sense of humor. A February 11, 2005 update on Peter’s condition from TYPE O NEGATIVE drummer Johnny Kelly stated, “There really isn’t much to report other than he’s doing fine and his health is improving daily.”
