do you think that Adrock's bar in "Alive" is refered to Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit)?

Fred Durst was the most heinous perpetrator of metal rap at that time and was frequently seen sporting a beard like a goat, so I would say yes.
But it's OK, that whole dark age is behind us now.

more reasons that The King dislikes The Nookie http://www.publicenemy.com/pb/viewtopic.php?p=274183&sid=bb07df6dc38dc9a366c62bffe5f7e911 From Sneak_Dogg, 4th post down, "Adrock produced one of the tracks on Crown Royal, but he requested his name be taken off the credits when they added a Fred Durst guest vocal to the song. According to the Run DMC book I read, Adrock was quite adamant that he was not down with Limp Biscuit. He also said he was disappointed with the album due to its overload of guests. To me that's part of the problem with rap nowadays, every track on an album has to have a guest on it. It waters it down. If there was a guest, it was a posse cut at the end of the album or it was a meeting of the titans, like LL Cool J on Rampage or Kane and Cube Burn Hollywood. I can't even listen to a Too $hort or LL Cool J album anymore and back in the days I used to love them. Ask yourself how many guest MCs were on Yo Bumrush the Show, Nation of Millions, Radio, Bigger and Deffer, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Licensed to Ill, Strictly Business?
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the new Beastie album."

....."Adrock produced one of the tracks on Crown Royal, but he requested his name be taken off the credits when they added a Fred Durst guest vocal to the song.....
So, what do you think? Which track did he produce? All right, I'll pull out my liner notes:
1. It's Over - LaMarquis Jefferson and Jermaine Dupri
2. Queens Day - Jam Master Jay, Randy Allen, Run, Tadone Wilson, and Mike Rapley
3. Crown Royal - Jam Master Jay, Randy Allen, and Run
4. Them Girls - Jam Master Jay, Randy Allen, and DJ Lethal
5. The School of Old - Kid Rock
6. Take the Money and Run - Dante Ross and John Gamble
7. Rock Show - Stephan Jenkins and Jason Carmer
8. Here We Go 2001 - Jam Master Jay and DJ Homicide
9. Ahhh - Jam Master Jay and Randy Allen
10. Let's Stay Together (Together Forever) - Jermaine Dupri and LaMarquis Jefferson
11. Ay Papi - Jam Master Jay and Randy Allen
12. Simmons Incorporated - Jam Master Jay, Randy Allen, and Run
Well, either Adrock was a "co-producer" on one of those songs or his track didn't make the final cut.

Oh okay, so he was saying that Adrock was one of the producers for Them Girls? Got it, thanks, I misunderstood.
Crown Royal wasn't all that bad. Overall I think it's just a fun kind of album to listen to, but DMC is really missed. It should've been labeled as Rev Run instead of Run DMC. At least JMJ was involved with some production.
"Crown Royal" was a pile of shit. DMC didn't do ANY vocals on it. The songs are weak. It should have been a Rev Run album.

DMC was on like 2 or 3 songs I think. He was on Ay Papi:
You might tell from the way I talk
that sucker MC's is who I stalk
Create in a rhyme that is in formation
Or why I made such a rap creation
That is bound, to be reknowned
within this city as a funky sound
And to those that try to put me down
My DJ has jams, by the pound.
On Crown Royal the song, they just repeat his voice saying "The King's a ruler, the ruler rules" and he starts saying the "Our Father" at the end.
Otherwise, they just sample his voice from time to time.

The King Ad Rock produced Them Girls early in the life of this LP, DMC was in place when the beat was made. No one rhymed on it right away. Then later Run and Durst added vocals. When Ad Rock heard it he said Run DMC could keep the beat, but didn't want his name on it.

Beasties should sample this line and put something together for that Durst cock-flailer since Limp Bizkit is on a comeback tip. I'd only fear that they'd be too gentle, though. (n)

If I was a betting man, I'd say the "goatee-metal-rap" lyric was definitely directed toward Fred Durst. At the the time many rap-metal bands, including Limp Bizkit, were citing the Beastie Boys as inspiration. When MTV/MTV2 used to play music videos, "So What'cha Want?" appeared on both Limp Bizkit's and Korn's hosted music video blocks. The love from these bands probably prompted the preceding lyric from Adrock: "Created a monster with these rhymes I write."
Furthermore, BS2000's happy-go-lucky track, "The Scrappy," is actually a disguised diss track aimed at Limp Bizkit:
"You think that I don't know, what is doing down/
It's time you let your goatee go, and do the new dance in town."
Yet another diss at Durst's recognizable late-90's soul patch.
The next verse even pokes fun at Bizkit's contact-wearing guitar player, Wes Borland:
"What's a matter with your eyes? Your contacts are so scary."
And why did you guys have to bring up Crown Royal? Sadly, that was Run DMC's final studio album. How and why were the Kings of Rock talked into teaming up with flavors of the moment? They're freakin' Run DMC!! Still pains me when the album is brought up.

Your appetite and enthusiasm for making mixes is pretty much unmatched on beastiemixes but i think its a case of quality not quantity. take your time over stuff. not that i am a top producer on anything, i struggle with getting things in time but when i do a remix i work on it for ages trying to sort the timings out.
I dont wanna preach or go on but its kinda disappointing to think you havent improved despite the millions of mixes you have done. I'd like to think i have improved a bit since starting and some of that improvement has been down to constructive criticsim from here. sorry for the rant but i think you could produce some good stuff if you didnt rush it, you have some good ideas that could be a lot better

It was Fred Durst.
It started with acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards when he asked bands to take responsibility for the safety of female concertgoers after the rapes and sexual assaults that went down in the crowd at Woodstock '99.
"Alive" came out in '99. From the jump everyone knew he was talking about in that one line.
Then he blasted Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit again on "The Scrappy" in 2001.
Then the "Them Girls" debacle when Run let Fred Durst and DJ Lethal get on the song for Crown Royal in 2001. Adrock told Run to take him off the production credits for the song because he didn't want to be associated with Fred Durst and DJ Lethal.
Since then it's been ancient history.

Can't see the Beastie's having any issues with Anthrax. While Scott rocks a huge goat, they are far from a metal rap band. And are respected in NYC circles, coming up at the as time period which the Beastie came out.
It's really just saying the type of peeps that where fans of the wack rap rock shizz that was on the radio heavy then, shouldn't think the Beastie fit or are part of the that strange little movement.
