i hate it when bartenders are dicks for no reason. i mean, i get that you're busy and that you have a million assholes crowding around trying to get your attention to get booze and that you probably work for tips but fuck, if all i want to do is squish up to the bar and offer to pay you money for a beer there's no reason for the attitude

i mean, i don't expect bartenders to pretend to be my friend or anything but i hate it when i'm trying order a drink and the bartender is all surly like "can i help you :rolleyes: :mad:?" like i'm some jerk who's just completely ruined her day by humbly requesting that she do her job and let me pay her for a beer. no need for that! just be a professional and at least pretend that you don't hate me for being a customer. it makes me want to not tip them but then again if they're that much of a jerk they'll probably spit in my drink if i don't tip them so i don't want to risk it (and it might not even work; one time i had a bartender who just kept a dollar for herself without even asking)

really now, maybe customer service isn't for you if you're going to be like that. consider working for the DMV.

yeah, I hear ya. Bartenders are usually pretty nice to me for whatever reason, but sometimes they're just turds. One time around christmas time, a bunch of my friends and I met up at a bar (a swedish dive bar to be exact) in the early evening after an event or something. Now I'd been to this bar several times over the years in the late evening and had nothing but friendly or at least decent service. But this early evening bartender was being a total dick. He acted annoyed that we were in the bar and was really slow and kinda made fun of us in a strange way. I can't remember exactly, but when my one friend who's pretty outgoing and hilarious got there, she just gave him some sass and he lightened up. That was pretty funny.

uhh. maybe you had to be there.

anyway, bartenders make good money, they should be nice, it's not like anyone's forcing them to do that job.

My local bar "The Royal Falconer" has great service. So I'm sorry to hear about being treated bad. One of my peeves is bad service when you're paying good money, so I feel for you... I've stopped going to several places because of bad service. But the places I still go to, I tip very well.

yeah i mean it doesn't happen that often, it's pretty rare. most places i go to the bartenders are either nice or politely indifferent but every now and then you get one who makes it very clear that he or she is upset about the fact that you're asking him or her to do the thing that they're paid to do and that just rubs me the wrong way.

i'm not obnoxious or anything, i just find my way up to the bar, wait for the bartender to notice me and then shout my order over the jukebox like any other normal person. 9 times out of 10 it's smooth, 1 time out of 10 they're a dick about it. no reason for it

Working behind a bar in england is probably the same as in america, except without tips. also, i dont get paid for staff meetings, or get any increased rate on bank holidays. (y)

The bartenders at this place I go to very often have this weird idea that I like certain drinks a certain way.

It's kinda nice to have people remember you want something a certain way even if you couldn't possibly care less.

Oh and as a rule I try not to piss people off that handle my food or drinks.

i generally like to run a tab so i can tip 0 if i happen to have an asshole bartender.
i pretty much always leave 20-25% to any server thats not an asshole. i like bartenders that arent assholes (y)

Really hot girls who are pushin 30 are the meanest bartenders. There is an irish prick at the pub next to my office who doesnt like me for some reason. I went once to pick up a cake,,, and i said "im here to pick up a cake" and he thought i said keg, then ripped on me for having a shitty accent. Ever since then he's been a dick to me. Fuck him.

Going the other way, twice in the past two weeks i got a female bartender phone number.... hung out with one of the girls this past weekend outside of work she was a good time and totally into me. Hit or Miss i supposed.
