individually, a few items come close. but what keeps bacon on top is its versatility to be combined with other foods to make them that much better

bacon is good, but sausage is better.

No, it's not. I don't actually like most forms of pork let alone bacon. Oh, and our Jewish friends can't eat it either.

While unhealthy as anything, Anytime you can combine bacon and mayonaise its the best tasting combo ever.
The Prophet Muhammed says no. I say it's up there.

No, it's not.
I agree with the cheese statement (or the cheese declaration, if you will).

you live near wisconsin though, you're legally required to love cheese
one time at a superbowl party a friend of mine had a bacon-themed menu, with jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon, chili with bacon in it, sausages wrapped in bacon, basically party food but with bacon wrapped around/added to it and it was great but i woke up the next morning and was literally afraid i was having a heart attack because my chest hurt in ways that it had never hurt before
i ate a lot of bacon
worth it though

tough call, cheese edges it for me. i had a pack of walkers bacon and cheese crisps/chips the other day, very disappointing, not the sum of its parts at all

it is if it's cooked correctly. It has to be that right balance of chewy and crisp. Not undercooked and not burnt.

Bacon on it's own is alright but it brings the best out of any food.
