Five Guys (http://www.fiveguys.com).
Besides meeting up with me for some drinks I suggest going to Great Falls (20 - 30 minutes outside of DC). Luray Caverns (2 hours away from DC). Canoe/Kayak the filthy Potomac. Go to the Spy Museum. Museums Museums Museums. Take in a show at the 930, Black Cat, or Rock and Roll Hotel. Go to the Rock Creek Planetarium (its a big'un). Eat eat eat.

I second 930 and Black Cat.
I think if you are short on time though, I'd say pick the Black Cat. 930 is great but the Black Cat is much more of a unique feel. I got kicked out of there for underage drinking once. :o
Yeah the Cat has a more laid back feel to it. But music tends to sound better at the nine firty. I'd pick the cat if i had to choose between the two though. Oh and if you are coming in July, they have the Screen on the Green thing going on the national mall. i don't think they have the movie schedule out yet though.

it's super easy to get around via the metro (http://www.wmata.com/). For reals. I didn't own a car when I lived in Arlington and worked in DC.

Aim for the face of Mirelurks, if you happen to acquire rad poisoning take rad away and to decrease radiation, take rad x.
and don't forget, if you're thirsty, you can always just drink from the toilets

But you definitely need to pop some rad x before doing that.
well duh! otherwise it would be disgusting, i didn't think i even had to mention that

get drunk and go get a half smoke (http://www.benschilibowl.com/ordereze/default.aspx)
and georgetown sucks!
ps: face really is the target area for mirelurks?
Yes, skip Georgetown. Only thing worth kind of seeing there are the "Exorcist Stairs", and thats still just a "uhhh so now what" kind of thing.

^The Indonesian embassy is haunted! True story.
Go to Brickskellers. (http://www.lovethebeer.com/brickskeller.html) Their beer list is ridiculously long...around 2,000 beers from around the world. Though a lot of the time they're out of the really exotic ones.
For clubs, go to Dupont Circle (I prefer a place called The Front Page), or U-Street (Cue Bar has pool tables, darts and other fun stuff). Also, if you're on U-Street, go to Ben's Chili Bowl or Dukem Ethiopian. They're both ridiculously good.
One hidden gem I tell everyone to go to is the Old Post Office Tower (http://www.nps.gov/opot/index.htm), where you can see a 360 view of the entire area. It's pretty awesome.
For museums, there's a few that are less touristy than others -- there's a Torpedo museum in Alexandria, and the Library of Congress (which has an AMAZING reading room - the architecture and statues are breathtaking. Plus, they have exhibits there). Check out Alexandria's King Street (has its own Metro stop on the Blue/Yellow line, and a free trolley that runs up and down the street pretty frequently). It's historic, and you can visit Gadsby's Tavern, (http://www.gadsbystavernrestaurant.com/) where George Washington used to get drunk.
Also check out Arlington Cemetery (on the Blue Line), the tomb of the unknown soldier is there, as well as the Kennedys.

i went to DC when i was younger once and we visited the tomb of the unknown soldier and watched the ceremony. i want to call it the changing of the guard but that doesn't sound right. but it's like that, where the marines guarding the tomb change shifts and march quite impressively. but be warned! they carry bayonets and there's a part where they march right past where all the tourists are standing and i'm pretty sure that if you tested them, they would not move their bayonets out of the way of your face if your face was in the way as they marched by, so don't try them (and if you did get cut you'd pretty much deserve it)
