I have to give a presentation in about 2,5 hours time. With 2 blokes. Who I hardly ever see. They don't have the books on our subject, I went out and searched for it so I could do some work. They did nothing.
I worked until 5 o' clock last night and got up at 8 to work some more.
I let one of the guys know I'd be in the library and that he should come along so we could discuss what we were going to do.
He didn't come in, eventhough he lives about a 5 minutes walk away and it takes me a 20 minute bike-ride to get here.
Then I also just got an email:
'oh yeah, I've got another class in a bit, which I can't miss, but I'll work on the presentation a bit then...'
Why didn't he email me sooner? Why didn't het get out of bed earlier so he could join me at the library? Why has noone done any sodding work?!

I am so stressed out! I hate presentations anyway, but now we have to fill 45 minutes without being properly prepared.
I might die. Aaaargh! :(

I always hated relying on others to work on a presentation. There is always somone who slacks off and gets credit for nothing. Hope things work out!

Hope so too.
We're doing a translation course and are supposed to be talking about the Dutch translation of the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
There's plenty to mention, as I can open up any page and show a translation that really doesn't work, but the whole thing has to be linked to translation theories and put in powerpoint. And then split into 3...

Oh well, we're about the first ones not to talk about Disney films or Harry Potter, so that should get us some extra points.
I'm still frightened of the whole public speaking thing though. :(

Don't forget your towel and you should be fine.

Good luck.

I'm working on a presentation with some others right now. By working, I mean I'm not working and haven't done anything. I hate presentations, especially with other people. It's a really shitty subject as well!

It would of and I nearly did say that but I decided it was too obvious and instead of hitting cancel I wanted to put something. Sorry.

Soooo...

one of the guys didn't show up at all so we couldn't do the thing.
We've now got the chance to do it on wednesday morning, but in a room without a computer, so we don't have to make a ppt thing. Maybe I'll bring my laptop and play some bits from the H2G2 radioseries.
Gonna work on the thing tonight, with the dude that did show up. I'm soooo tired though. :s

Btw, have you all seen the H2G2 film and do you all think it sucks donkeyballs compared to the series/book?

I love the book and series and only heard bits of the radio series. But man, the movie - watched it at a friends once but a lot going off so only had 40% of my attention but what I saw made me feel sad for Douglas Adams - it wouldn't of happened while he was a live (I think).

edit: I know my grammar sucks but can't be bothered to change the post.

the tv series was shite
the book is awesome
the films pretty good , nowhere close to the book but just like the universe the book is really really big. too much to cram into a film. but there were some nice touches, some great casting and nice ideas and it was faithful to the book, had a similar feel. there are a couple of things dont come off but it was a brave attempt
adam, you need to watch it again, on your own. i think you'll change your mind. Plus it was douglas adams who wanted to make the film and had a million ideas for it. But he died. The option was still available and The directors sought out his family and used some of these ideas he had had. And he's in it for a nanosecond.

it is on my to do list of watching - the film that is.

I still love the TV Series tho. Maybe cus its what I saw first as a school project many moons ago, then I read the book. Its often the case, the format you see first is often your favourite.

Except that the main character isn't as posh, his best friend isn't an awkward and pale alien from 'Guildford' but a cool American rapper, Trillian and Zaphod are both Americans, Marvin looks cute and there was a whole bit about Humma Kavula, which wasn't in any of the books.

The main character isnt as posh - so what, he was only supposed to be an average human in a dressing gown.
his best friend isn't an awkward and pale alien from 'Guildford' but a cool American rapper - correction. his best friend is PLAYED by a cool American rapper. different. he still had his quirks and was vague about stuff. zaphod's an alien so it dont matter what accent he had imo. i agree that maybe trillian could have been english but they hinted that being an american was one of the things arthur was attracted to.
they had to update some effects and marvin otherwise evryone would have complained it was too samey and low budget. plus the original marvin was in it, so was the original arthur dent.
agreed about the humma kavula bit, unnecessary.
I think it tried to be faithful in feel. Some bits were brilliant and much more like the book than the tv series could ever have done. the trip round magrathea for example.
