View Full Version : Your Dream Trip?
During my current midlife crisis my mind has turned to travelling. I have had this link --> http://odysseyoverland.co.uk/ saved for about 8 months and I keep going back to it and I want to do both trips they offer.
I am really thinking about doing the London to Darwin, Australia trip starting in April 2011 - 23 countries in 26 weeks that leaves me in Australia in October although thought no further what to do from there.
So do you have a dream trip, either packaged (kinda like mine) or one that you've always thought about?

I might be going down the pub on Sunday.
few pints and some Dry Roasted Knobby's Nuts.
put some shit on the jukebox
If it's as sunny and warm as they say it might be then I might have to dodge the fucking wasps outside
fucking cunts.I hate wasps

This sounds so awesome. I wish I could take that much time off work to do something like that. All those countries in 6 months. What a trip!
I've always wanted to go to Australia.

That trip seems unrealistically cheap...

Since I'm older than most and arguably wiser than all of you, I can't encourage people to travel enough. I spent most of my 20s not travelling and still can't seem to make up the time.
Kids and old age will lock you down. Book your dream trip now and be poor.

True that - now with child we keep our adventures local but do have the Adirondacks to explore so it's not too bad.
I spent a great deal of my early 20's exploring the midwest states back when raves were abundant and the law wasn't as hard on them, quite the adventures on so many levels I tell ya.
My dream trip would be New Zealand undoubtedly, or the Moon.

Its not bad is it, and you probably could do it for less by travelling yourself. But its a genuine company as I've read countless blogs. Realistically the cheapest you can do it in total is about £7k from what I can tell. £1200(ish) a month is kinda a high backpacking fund and you could easily spend 6 months going around the world on half that if you're careful.
It does drop you off in Australia tho so you've still gotta get back home on your own expense afterwards or do whatever. That part I haven't decided yet.

My dream locales:
Easter Island
The North Pole by sno-cat and helicopter.
The Fjords of Norway
The Sahara Desert specifically the place in Tunisia where the Kraht Dragon skeleton from Star Wars is.
Watch out for the Sand People!

So true. Kids - travel pls. Once you get a mortgage and a staff of ppl that rely on your decisions it becomes increasingly difficult to break away and do something amazing.
Catch 22 is that professional life brings with it more money and security, therefore opening the door to Travel. However, social stressors keep you locked-down, so to speak.
Hmmph.

Adam if you have the money to take the trip, go take it, and why stop once you get to Oz?
It's exactly what i'd do if i could, take my boys out of school and take them to see the world
I always wanted to take an Airstream truck and trailer up the west coast of the u.s right on up through Canada and into Alaska, but i'd actually also want to incorporate the east coast and S America too, just do a massive loop. And to see places like Bhutan would be amazing.
I'm gonna. Not got the cash just yet but will have soon hopefully.
And yeah, wasn't gonna stop at Oz - just haven't thought about the direction I would take after it. I know little about that end of the world so a go with the flow and latch onto someone who needs company and has better plans would probably be what I'll do.
I might put £10k aside and try and spend a year away from the UK. Travel light, hobo style.
