Seriously - there is way too much riding on this fucking movie.

I have been waiting too God Damned Long for it to be released.

The fact that Jeff Bridges is starring and Daft Punk is doing the music has my confidence in the film very high.

But then again, I was so freaking pumped for Star Wars Episode 1 before it came out and it completely crushed me.

Dear Hollywood and Disney - please do not fuck up Tron. My heart won't be able to take it... :(

Never seen the first. Probably makes the whole anticipation thing a bit easier to deal with. *shrugs*

I remember them advertising the shit on the back of marvel comics. The video game version of Tron I think that was.

One of my best friends loves that first movie. I have no idea why. It's a pretty bad movie. Bridges isn't even very good in it, which is
quite a feat. The main villain is awful, and by the time they reveal the CPU, it's just horrible. Some good effects in the movie
(except Bridges getting zapped) and then it winds up with that awful, awful looking CPU.

Sorry to be the voice of reason here, but the movie is mostly just clumsy.

It has its faults but i suppose it was ahead of its time, the idea was better than the technology and hopefully the effects, the soundtrack and performances will be better second time around but i aint gonna lose any sleep if its shit, i'll be a bit down if the soundtracks shit cos daft punk are the nuts

Gee, there's a reasoned argument.

Tron can see Russia from its house.

If the story sucks I have a feeling it will look great

Hard to tell - The New Stars Trilogy trailers looked promising as well

Seeing that Pirates of the Caribbean were entertaining and visually stunning (the first being the best of course), I think Disney would do it's best in giving TRON (one of their first live action sci-fi/fantasy flicks) proper and improved treatment.

I just don't know about the dude in white with the cane - hmmm

Also - I hope they don't mess up Tron.
Seriously, I will be on pins and needles until it's released.
They are respecting the old lore so that's a good sign.

They wont. Good buzz here at work about it.

I want it to be at least, AT LEAST, entertaining. With all the reboots of things and zero of them being any good it worries me as it worries you.

If it is actually GREAT though, um, I'll cry tears of joy. :D

Well if Tron (1) was ahead of it's time, then this movie needs to keep the same premise and hopefully deliver something new to film/technology/cgi

I'm sure the 3D will fucking kill - Disney has always done well with their 3D shows at the amusement parks.

And Jeff Bridges acting will definitely be an improvement

I doubt that will happen. Since the Matrix and Pixar movies, how can anyone really introduce something like that that will wow audiences?

They are going to have to have a better script, acting, and like you said, pump up the 3D in a good way.

I already like the look of the computer world. Smooth and stylish but dark and rainy.

Well, we don't know what Disney has in store. They've been on the cutting edge of technology since the beginning. They're sort of like the military of Amusement parks - They invent it use it for 10 years and then eventually other amusement parks get a taste of the technology/techniques.

I bet Disney has access to some amazing processing/rendering power

I'm hoping all the computer terminology fits as well, TRON 1 was a little quirky with that, but since computing/gaming/communication has exploded, it's not just some geeky 101010 shit and a 56k baud rate modem. There is much more to work with here.

My guess Clu 2 has been infected with a virus. Clu looks to be a bad guy this time around.

Little over a week away I'm so excited I think I'm getting glowing Tron lines on my skin.

i really dont pay attention to reviews for big movies. Critics either slate it cos they know everyone is going to go and see it or big it up because they know everyone is going to go. That maybe a lazy point of view.

I wasnt sure if i was going to go but the more i see and hear I am more and more intrigued. I just think it was a film that needed a revisit, it was ahead of its time if imperfect and i think its right they have made it and they seem to have treated the idea with respect rather than just sticking some old shit out. Getting Daft Punk for the score was the sign for me that it was going to be worth a look.

i'm not liking the sound of dark and rainy-all that fucked up Sin City for me. I've never really watched the first Tron either but i can't wait for this one mainly coz of soundtrack. I don't know when i'll get to see it though-mainly i go with my kids and my eldest wants to see Harry Potter as they mention Evesham (little town where we live) in it.

As I watch more and more teasers, I figured it was best to keep lowering my expectations. The main actor is just, well, look at him. Listen to him. I have flashes of Sam Worthington in my head which is never good.

I'll still watch it though and I'm sure it will be good for nostalgia purposes. Most of the negative reviews so far also mention they never liked the first movie, so whatever.

But this one made me lol:
The film is a Fleshlight. It looks like the real thing, and it might get you off, but it is plastic, phony, and utterly soulless.

I saw it and enjoyed it. Its Tron. No Blade Runner. If you are going in expecting an amazing movie, its not going to happen. If you enjoy what Tron was about, then you'll dig this movie.

Saw it last night and some parts met my expectations and others not so much

I think a better plot would have been for CLU to trick Sam onto the grid and then clone a program of him to get Flynn to come out of hiding. It would have been a full circle of creation.

but not too shabby for a movie, disney live action films aren't known to be Oscar winners.

the visuals were MINDBLOWING.

the story was kind of meh, but i saw it as a kids movie with incredible FX so i wasn't dissapointed and i went in expecting it to not be so good in the plot dept.

again, visuals = MINDBLOWING. saw it in IMAX and it was ENTIRELY worth the price of admission. the sound was incredible, the look and feel of the film was out of this world. completely satisfied customer (y)

ps, go 'prepared'.

I really, really enjoyed it. Yes, a lot of the dialogue could have been MUCH better, but for the most part the film was a blast. It was really fun to watch, and as stated, the visuals are more than worth your money. Can't remember how many times I thought, "THIS IS AWESOME HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME" to myself. It was a lot, though.

can't remember the first one, but they certainly did fuck this one up. visually speaking, it was great, but the story was just....well, disney, i suppose.
