I was introduced to Monkey Bread when I was 6 years old. My brother had a friend sleep over who told us about monkey bread. My dad listened and did what the 10 year old said… and it was good.
From my six year old memory it was … can of briskets the kind you peel the rapper off and pop open. Bake according to those directions … maybe 400 for 12 minutes? Any way, cut the biscuits in quarters, then dip in butter, then cinnamon/sugar mix in 12 or 10 inch circle pan. Bake and eat.
It was good but not easy… so now 31 years later I have the easy and 15 minute way/version. Start the oven … mine preheats in about 7 minutes. During that time I get it ready. I have one 4x8 deep plastic container with cinnamon/sugar mix about 1 inch deep. Then I have a 6 inch round bowl with milk. I open the can of biscuits, cut them in half and put all into milk. I dump the biscuits out into a small colander and dump the briskets into the cinnamon/sugar mix… Put a lid on the sugar mix and shake.. I do it over the sink… open the bowl and place the now coated biscuits into a 12 inch round greased pan. Bake in the oven per brisket instructions … I have this shit out in 15 minutes from starting the oven… Once I pull it out of the oven, dump the pan onto a plate and have a monkey bread cake. You can substitute milk with melted butter if you like.
